I think Barber and Vaughn Williams have done some sublime work

I will have to check them out.

Barber’s Adagio is pretty nice.

How cool would that be if music like this was still hip among the masses. Turn on the radio and the DJ says: "Alright, comin' in at number 1 most requested this week is something brand new from my man Haydn off his LP "Symphony no.49 in F minor" which drops next week. Hot off the presses for ya, this is I "Adagio "La Passione"" right here on 95.9, you're number one hip-hop and classical music station."

Barber: School for Scandal Overture

The second subject at the 2 minute mark is gorgeous. And Barber uses sonatina format.

Neither Barber nor Williams were prolific, but when then hit it they git it.
Pachabel was not that prolific either

We had a station like that in Miami, then they went to electronic dance music.

So then I tried listening to NPR, but they dedicated a whole program to LGBT Classical composers (most of whom would spin in their graves if they being outed at something-thousand kilowatts!) and i just turned it off. Grrrr. How to ruin a good thing.

Ah yes...Pachabel. Instant wedding processional music for people who don’t want it to be too “holy” LOL!

Barber: "Dover Beach" for Baritone and String Quartet, Op. 3

Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau with the Julliard Quartet. Barber nails the Matthew Arnold poem.

Classical is classical but hey, Puccini basically wrote soap operas for the “Pop” market.

For tomorrow.

Barber: "The Monk and His Cat"

The piano is supposed to be a cat meowing, purring and climbing around the keys. The first time I heard this song, my screen went blurry. This is Leontyne Price singing.
