Congressional Democrats are pushing legislation that would ban the production of guns made entirely of plastic, The Hill reported.

The Undetectable Firearms Modernization Act, proposed in response to recent airport security lapses, would require firearms to contain enough metal to be detected.

Damn. Now people who want to make undetectable weapons for crimal purposes will all go out of business, bein’s as how they’re REALLY worried about obeying idiotic laws. DOH!!

My idiot democrat friends are constantly blaming “guns” and want them all made illegal. Of course they would’nt be democrats if they had any brains. Therefore they have no clue that there are at least 2 guns per every adult in US already. If guns were made illegal, does any sane person think the law breakers would turn them in? Us law abiding citizens would become sitting ducks got the criminals.

Back to plastic guns. Metal detectors are useful and will be useful for a very long time, simply because all lethal guns are made of strong metals. A plastic gun can not cause mass slaughter like a lethal metal firearm can. The tremendous heat generated by gun powder will make it impossible to fire more than a couple of shots. A good hard plastic knife can cause the same amount of damage.

BS, they couldn't detect prop BOMBS that were attached to test subjects' backs, etc. This is a bait and switch and will NOT address the problems of incompetence, Islamist jihad, or gun violence.

One, cartridges are metal. Two, I have gone to the airport after simply handling a recently fired handgun and was stopped, and was singled out for an invasive exam. It has happened when I’ve carried a purse I’ve kept a loaded weapon in, too. I now have a travel purse that has never seen a weapon.

You could make a plastic/ceramic gun which fires a non-metallic bullet and is caseless. It would likely only be good for one shot, though.
