The appointment of Souter (direct result of making Sununu Chief of staff) and the budget deal (direct result of Lee Atwater dying) were the flip side of all that. But all of this was driven by GHW Bushs biggest fault (even larger than his moderatism): being loyal to faithless staff who didnt show any loyalty in return. Dick Darman, for instance. No argument from me. I have little doubt that just like his son listened to Karl Rove, George HW Bush was listening to the advice of Northeaster Republican Rockefeller Wing Limousine Liberal moderates.
They simply can't see the bigger picture and they all wanted to play footsie with Democrats. Social circles, and all that.

We'll see over time. The MSM is out to get all of them so the formula for any Republican candidate's success is:
Don't make a verbal gaff even the most minor one.
Make sure your background is completely in the public domain.
Don't have a picture taken that can be photoshopped
Unfortunately your message comes in at a distant 4th place in priority.

I think they meant *vote* for a good *conservative* president.
I know that feeling.
I couldn’t vote in ‘76, but I was primed and ready for ‘80.
I was the fifth person in line at my polling place on election day.
The feeling I got from voting for Reagan that day still makes me grin from time to time.

I don’t agree that the MSM is out to get all of “them”.
They’re out to get those who will be a problem for Hillary.

Sorry, if you have an “R” affiliation it’s open season from the sublime to the ridiculous as far as the MSM is concerned.

And Jimmy Carter gave us Ronald Reagan. Elections go in cycles - Dems then Repubs win - and vice versa.
