On Oct. 24, 2001, then-House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) shepherded the Patriot Act through the House of Representatives. It passed 357 to 66, advancing to the Senate and then-President George W. Bush’s desk for

signing.

Hastert took credit for House passage in a 2011 interview, claiming it “wasn’t popular, and there was a lot of fight in the Congress” over it.

Because paying blackmail is more criminal than being blackmailed.

He was a criminal for molestation, no doubt that was criminal, but odd that the payoff is the charge and not molestation or blackmail. Procedural crime.

Oh, lol huffpo, lol.

When are you going to do a piece about how the bankers for the Clinton Foundation who are legally bound by the same laws have failed to report the myriad "suspicious activities" of that international money laundering network?

Not really. His predilection to bugger minor boys led to his indictment. The fact that portions of a law he and others forced on this country under the guise of terrorism facilitated the uncovering of the bribes he paid to the victim is a miniscule part of his downfall.

Not defending Hastert over the sex abuse allegations but he is being prosecuted for taking his own money out of his own bank account and lying to the FBI about the purpose of the withdrawals. Apparently all your money really belongs to the government and if you want to use it you’ll need to explain why

His actions led to his indictment. Not a law.

The crimes are so vast by these two grifters, they probably do not know where to start? How far back to go? Arkansas? If they could, the far left MSM should interview both Johnny Chung and Vince Foster to get some suggestions...

An oldie, but a goodie.....

Yeah, where do you start with these ever-present grifters?

The crime is that he used his own money. Ill-gotten perhaps, but his own money. Welcome to the new America.

Truth be known probably 99% of all people ruling ‘the People’ are compromised .... this would include those the read what is allowed to be read (by media) to ‘the People’ ... but keep in mind anyone trying to form an objective opinion is known as a subversive and worse to those in power.

Come on fool, he voted for the law that made structuring illegal. He structured and then lied about structuring to the FBI to cover up his alleged molestation of an underage male and his alleged homosexual affair.

Why is it that there seems to be such a DC magnet for all the scum in this country? Money? Power over those less able to deal with the world? Greed? It just seems to me what’s up there, what’s been up there has largely been the worst of our country.

In his defense, as is the same traditional defense our legislators, that law was NEVER meant to apply to him. It is the SCUMBAG POLITICIAN way.

My question is.. How does a wrestling coach go to Washington and 30 years later have millions in bank accounts?

I have gained the impression he was “boffing” young men. I would not be surprised as we have passed under the control of people who for various reasons do not even belong to our society; i.e. Sodomites, criminals, aliens, blacks.
