Comer Concedes, McConnell Congratulates Bevin on GOP Primary Win
River City News ^ | 5/29/15 | Staff Report

Ten days after a photo finish in the GOP primary for Kentucky governor, the race is officially decided.

After a statewide re-canvass by county clerks, Louisville businessman Matt Bevin held on to his narrow 83-vote margin of victory and current Commissioner of Agriculture James Comer conceded the race.

"After much prayer and consideration, I have decided to forgo a vote recount and concede to Matt Bevin," Comer said in a statement Friday. "Within minutes of receiving the re-canvass results, I called Matt Bevin to concede and congratulate him on a hard fought victory. Many of you have encouraged me to petition for a vote recount, and I appreciate your commitment to see this campaign through. Your pleas are the only reason why this was a difficult decision for TJ and me. While I do not want to let you down, I believe it is in the best interest of the Republican Party and Kentucky to avoid a long, divisive, and expensive recount. Now is the time to be united against Jack Conway and I stand united with Matt Bevin."

Attorney General Jack Conway is the Democratic nominee in the fall campaign for governor.

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who was challenged by Bevin in last year's GOP primary for Senator, issued a statement on Friday. "I congratulate Matt Bevin on his victory and endorse him for governor," McConnell said.

I posted this for the sake of Comer's excellent remarks: "I believe it is in the best interest of the Republican Party and Kentucky to avoid a long, divisive, and expensive recount. Now is the time to be united against Jack Conway and I stand united with Matt Bevin."

You just gave me the Best Laugh of The Day, imagining that being done, Mitch “playfully B*tch slapped” maybe on the air by Megyn Kelly, for again saying something stone STUPID.

Yes, Bevin should win...it’s time to unite and elect a real Republican, not a fake Republican like Mitch...

Great. Now, is this a pyrrhic victory or can Bevin win the state?

Kentucky FREEPers?

Yertle the turtle ordered all the other turtles to pile up so he could climb to the top and be “the king of all I see”.

We’ll see how long that lasts in that all he’s done since scrabbling to the top is crap on the turtles below.

He has a fighting chance. He carries no ill-will from any of his primary opponents, and that’s enormously important.

Liars have no grace. Let him keep his elections promises, then you can give him some “credit.” Mitch McDumbo is a dis”grace.”

Funny how Mitch has to actually endorse Bevin.

Normally that would be automatic within a party.

Sounds like Mitch is putting himself before the party.

Mitch is such a liberal fake.

McConnell would rather see the Guvnorship go to Machine Democrat Conway than to a Conservative - of that I can guarantee - DESPITE whatever public remarks McConnell gave.

McConnell’s speciality is subterfuge through a third party - and I do not doubt the sly hand behind the scenes working to hand Conway the seat come November.

We remember what Mitch had to say about Conservatives and especially Bevin in the primary last year. There is real hatred there.

Bull. I doubt you know a damn thing about KY politics. You’re just high off of propaganda that McConnell is “a huge RINO”. Mindless stupid propaganda. The Frankfurt democrats have no greater enemy that Mitch McConnell. They threw the sink at him to try and get their bitch Alison Grimes into his seat. And plenty of drooling idiots who claim to be conservatives cheered the baby-killing, union-loving bitch on. Disgusting.

I know PLENTY, I live here in the Bluegrass Commonwealth. You on the other hand sound like a shill for the Turtle.

McConnell attacked Bevin far more viciously and sustained than anything he threw at Grimes in last years election. McConnell went on the threaten Tea Party Conservatives - telling us we ‘needed to be punched in the nose’ and ‘crushed’.

McConnell IS a huge Statist RINO - anyone with a modicum of intelligence and honesty looking at what he has done in just the last 6 months would understand that charge is self-evident.

It’s just too bad you are just a sycophant for the leading Ruling Class Statist in the senate.
