The Maine Senate has passed a "Constitutional Carry" bill with a vote of 21-14. The bill would permit gun owners to legally carry their weapons concealed without a permit. This is the second time in two years that the Senate has considered this type of bill.
While the votes were mostly split along party lines, three Democrats sided with the Republicans in voting for the measure.
The Senate voted 21-14 to approve the bill, L.D. 652, a heavily lobbied measure that pits gun rights activists against groups seeking more oversight over individuals who carry firearms. Three Democrats joined the Republican majority to support the bill. Two Republicans voted against it.
The bill now moves on to the House of Representatives.
Vermont, Alaska, Arizona, Kansas, and Wyoming all have Constitutional Carry laws that allow permit-free concealed carry within the state. The Brady Campaign gave Maine an "F" grade on its state scorecard in 2013, yet also noted that the state has one of the lowest gun death rates in the nation.
It burns me up that Gay Maine is doing this when even TEXAS can’t.
WV and Montana both passed similar laws. Their 2nd amendment friendly Rat governors vetoed.

The control freaks hate consitutional carry .Matter of fact,they hate the Constitution,period. The purpose of the Constitution was to put chains on government ,not chains on the people!.
This is terrific but what chance does it have of getting through the House?
I doubt it will make it past their house of representatives.

I hope so, but the House is majority (D). A majority in the House, mostly Republicans with some Democrats, have signed on as co-sponsors.
Governor Paul LePage has a very good 2nd Amendment track record.
Accordingly, our Founders spoke truth and clarity in their words thus the Second Amendment to our Constitution is clear in it's meaning thus carrying a firearm concealed or otherwise does not require a reason nor permission issued by some politically biased bureaucrat. Ones permission to carry a firearm is already stated in our Constitution. Aside from that, it is natural law that dictates how one prepares and responds to ones surroundings, not some wimpy anti-constitutionalist POS politician in a state house nor in DC.

Virtually all Mainers own, and know how to use, firearms. D, R, Male, Female, Straight, Gay, it doesn’t matter. I think Maine is the most heavily armed state in the Union. It’s likely this will pass.
When it comes to La Page - no likely about it. He'll sign it with a flourish.
La Page is everything people thought Christie was - La Page is the real deal.
The bill was orginally sponsored by more than 50 percent of the house. To have more than 20 sponsors is unusual.
