BALTIMORE - A woman and a boy were fatally shot Thursday morning in southwest Baltimore.
City police said officers were called around 8:19 a.m. to the 100 block of Upmanor Road, where a 31-year-old woman and a young boy believed to be around 8 years old had been shot in the head.
Anyone with information about the shootings is asked to call police at 410-396-2100.

They got what they wanted in Baltimore so now they’re complaining that they actually got what they wanted... the police are doing exactly what the mayor and DA have told them to do - stand down.....
Now let them see just what their thug communities can do for them....they need to control their own and take responsibility for the actions of their neighborhoods and themselves....which of course they are incapable of doing ...by choice and otherwise.
I think we’re missing the issue, which is, why do blacks kill each other in such high numbers. Sure, better policing can reduce this, but why should blacks need more policing?
My lily white neighborhood rarely sees law enforcement, yet nobody is out whacking people.
If these communities wanted strong families they would have corrected the problem long ago...they aren’t interested.

Same with welfare - it used to have some stigma attached, not any more.
As a country with diverse cultures, it would be odd indeed if all those cultures had the same (rather than diverse) rate of violence.
Perhaps urban residents of undeclared backgrounds suffering from inadequate funding due to republican budget cutbacks of social welfare programs did it, sure!
I wouldn’t expect all groups to have same or similar violence rates, but what were seeing in black ares are way beyond the norm. I think this has been on a rise post LBJ.

I think the welfare society is partly to blame. It facilitates and probably gives financial advantage to fatherless households. And then "idle hands are the devil's workshop" runs its course.

It’s a social and political meltdown which has been systematically engineered by the people in charge there for decades.
With all of the third world s&^%holes as examples staring you in the face ... and with all the US Conservatives warning of JUST THIS outcome.... they still HAD to take the path they did.
I am not, even NOW, optimistic that any lessons have been learned.
