Given that pretty much anything the Dems say is a lie, I strongly suspect this actually means they’re terrified at the idea of facing Cruz, and are pretty sure they could beat Jeb like a rented mule.

I doubt that anyone really believes this. Democrat insiders would cheer if Jeb Bush won, just like they would for Hillary or any other big government liberal. Jeb and Hillary both want Amnesty. They both want Obamacare to continue. They both support federalizing education with Common Core. Hillary wants to grab our guns now, and Jebbie Bush wants to make FedGov so big that it can grab our guns later, but that's a question of how soon our last freedoms will die, not whether Jeb will actually protect America.
Because nominating moderates worked so well for the GOPe through the years, right?
