May 27, 2015 Loretta Lynch's Justice Department unsealed a 47-count indictment Wednesday morning laden with racketeering, corruption and conspiracy charges against 14 people associated with FIFA, the world soccer association, and international soccer organizations.

Yeah, because the 99% of the everyday folks at Justice and FBI who are just doing their freaking jobs should drop everything because it’s unrelated to the handful of things that you care about.

Not surprised FIFA is corrupted. It is bigtime. So is the IOC.

And according to the DoJ and Swiss legal authorities, the legal probe is only beginning. We could see FIFA President Sepp Blatter brought down within the next 3-4 months--and the whole world cheers.

Although 2014-15 for the NFL was nothing to write home about and with the recent “deflate gate”, the NFL maybe just had seen the writing on the wall and decided to do its own house cleaning.

The point is they are not doing anything about the important things, and going after stupid stuff.

And it is on purpose.

I assure, I am not the only one concerned about the lack of justice in the items I mentioned.

If we are so darned concerned about FIFA officials getting bribes on US soil, and reaching to Switzerland to nab them, then why aren’t we going after obvious criminal activity taking place in our own government?

I’ll just let the FBI know they can stop investigating racketeering, kidnapping, and other cases they’re working on that aren’t related to political issues too, then, shall I?

I don’t care if you don’t care. This is a HUGE case, years in the making, involving hundreds of millions (and possibly even higher orders) in bank and wire fraud, and this is only the tip of the iceberg. This might be the biggest singular organized crime case of all time if they can make it stick.

But it doesn’t have anything to do with domestic political agendas, so let’s just ignore the whole thing, right?

Going after things like this isn’t stopping them from going after Hillary et al. Our own corruption is stopping them there. They might as well go after the folks they’re “allowed” to since the others will never be prosecuted.

I don’t think the US cared much (they never cleared much profit off the 1994 episode).

There’s a lot of hostility in Europe over the Qatar episode (2022) and virtually no one is agreeable over the new playing schedule to make that World Cup possible (ends the week of Xmas in 2022).

I think the Feds are using only evidence for 1994 US Cup and the Latin American Cup of 2014. They’ve gauged this to push this group into ratting out the 2022 Qatar cheaters (tens of millions went to someone is the speculation by some people).

I actually watched what’s his name who does “last week tonight” on HBO talk about this.

But how are these crimes against the US, that’s what I don’t understand.

According to the DOJ release, bribes were arranged and made on U.S. soil (the HQ of CONCACAF is in Miami and before that, New York) and that U.S. banks were used to transfer/launder the bribes.

That's the jurisdiction.

Also note that one of the defendants (one of the only US citizens implicated) has already pled guilty (in 2013, but sealed until now, if I’m reading this right).

Soccer fans around the world are exstatic today. Loretta Lynch is probably the most popular woman in world soccer today. Even the United States Justice system is getting massive respect for finally acting, when others were too cowardly or even complicit.

In the grand order of things, domestic issues which are clear indications of vast corruption of our own government are far more important than a bunch of European soccer officials getting bribed.

These are not “political” issues, but issues of massive lawbreaking by government officials who have power over us that we give them.

Other countries can go after FIFA, as they are far more invested in soccer as a national past-time than we are.

And it is not a case of stopping all other legal investigations—that is a ridiculous argument.

The fact is that our Justice Department chooses NOT to investigate obvious government corruption as a way to protect the regime.

But, not to worry, we have time, money and manpower to go after soccer officials based in Europe.

At least 5 have already pled guilty, incl the US member Blaze. Accused of siphoning off $15 million from FIFA and CONCACAF in the “form of commissions, fees, and rent expenses without obtaining proper authorization.”

The defendants are all from North and South America, by the way. But please, continue to lecture me on the facts.

Other countries can go after FIFA, as they are far more invested in soccer as a national past-time than we are.

You're missing the point. Scratch the names and the sport involved. This is a huge bribery and wire fraud, organized crime scheme that's been going on for decades, and significant parts of the criminal activity have occurred in the US. The FBI and DOJ deal with many, many cases simultaneously - it is no "distraction" from other issues to discuss one of these cases that has wide-reaching impact domestically and globally.

As for the other issues, a lack of political will stops them from being investigated, not a time, money, and/or manpower issue.
