Scott Walker might skip Florida primary in Bush-Rubio territory
Washington Post ^ | May 26, 2015 | Jenna Johnson

As Republicans prepare to pick their next presidential nominee, there's one primary that's already likely to get expensive and intense: Florida -- home to former governor Jeb Bush, who is likely to run, and Sen. Marco Rubio, who made his announcement in Miami.

That's why Scott Walker, the Wisconsin governor who has been riding high in early polls, said Tuesday that he might skip the Florida primary.

“If we chose to get in, I don’t think there’s a state out there that we wouldn’t play in," Walker, who has yet to get into the race, said on Laura Ingraham's radio show on Tuesday. "I mean, other than maybe Florida where Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio are, at least in some of the polls, essentially tied, and they’re going to eat up a good amount of that financial advantage that Gov. Bush is going to have. Remember [Florida Gov.] Rick Scott spent something like a 100 million dollars running for governor there last year."

It would be a mistake to skip. Bush and Rubio are going to suffer favorite-son fratricide. The next strongest candidate stands to gain from that.

If Mr. Walker were to ultimately win the republican nod he will surely need Florida.
Were he to come here and show his mettle he may just take the state from what ever dem takes their nod.
Stay away and indicate we are not worthy here?
Shove off mate.
Personally I really like the guy compared to say Jeb or Marco. And would really like to see him come here.
Marco for Sec of State or V.P. but not pres.

Maybe he should call Rudy Giuliani and see how skipping early primaries worked for him.

I agree...if you can’t even compete in Florida, then you won’t compete nationally...of course, if you are the one candidate in the generals, you might have enough money. Who knows.

But, to give up on a State you can’t win? Seems a bit premature to write off winning.
