Beekeepers. Physicians. Organic farmers. Preschool teachers. Parents of autistic kids.
Those were some of the groups represented Saturday in a march against the controversial biotech and agricultural giant Monsanto, which is often cast as Public Enemy No. 1 by those opposed to genetically modified foods.
As many as 500 people many dressed like bumblebees and butterflies filled Justin Herman Plaza around noon and then marched down the Embarcadero to Fishermans Wharf. Many held signs with slogans like Evil Seed of Corporate Greed and GMOs Cause Autism and Cancer.

All food that results from agriculture is genetically modified.
No exceptions.
..
Tell that to my garden.;-)
I like the way you think.
The same protesters who rally on the left against genetic modification of plants rally for the genetic modification of humans using stem cells from fetus ‘harvests’. No harm has ever been scientifically observed from the former, but they bar any discussion of the latter.
No GMO’s! We don’t like tomatoes!
...
I’m sure there is one for corn too
Everything in your garden is the result of genetic modification. Only the methods have changed.
Try comparing “teosinte” with its genetically modified and very popular relative. It doesn’t even seem like corn was edible before genetic modification.
you are correct.
You are correct.
But not all who’s against Monsanto is because of GMO’s.
Monsanto is still a crony capitalist oligarch.
Ditto here! Monsanto truly deserves it's reputation as an evil corporation.

All natural Foods causes the fat lazy kids
aw geez not this crap again.
Nice graphic!
Evil stuff? Really? Do you even know or can you tell me, in your very own words without cutting and pasting from alarmist websites, exactly what the chemical makeup of Glyphosate is and why it is harmful?
http://npic.orst.edu/factsheets/glyphogen.html
The truth is that Glyphosate (Round Up as made by Monsanto, but they are not the only company that manufactures and sells Glyphosate based herbicides BTW) has never been found to be particularly toxic to humans or other animals in except in very high does that would not be found in its normal application.
There are some organic farmers and hobby gardeners who use a homemade; a supposedly more natural and safe organic herbicide made from salt, vinegar and soaps in order to control weeds. But in reality it is pretty much is the very same chemical compound as is found in Round Up and other similar commercial herbicides. But it is less effective and in application meaning that more of it has to be used, it is more toxic than the commercially available products like Round Up, plus it is more expensive.
“None of this poison is necessary and the research is ever so heavily bought and paid for.”
I take it you’ve never hoed fields before.
I hear what you’re offering.
I think the question is if Mother Nature can genetically mod things over time.. should we do it too.. only on a quicker timescale?
Hmmmm.. I don’t know.. What safeguards can Multinational Corps put in place that will minimize effects? I think the cows have fled the corral.. we’re gonna be left to clean up the mess.
I do not know how to cut and paste and if you bother to research what I have posted you will see a big fat zero.
You always pop up on these threads..
Amazing!
It is called Glyphosate!
These are not genetically modified “HYBRID SEEDS” nor genetically modified HYBRID CHEMICALS that must be constantly re purchased and re sprayed.
Most of the wheat in the USA has beeny hyrid pre-GMO’s.
No, I am not gluten sensitive but yes, I cannot tolerate chemicals.
And Yes, there are other people like me who think this stuff is crap.
Eat your corn, soy, mangoes etc.
I choose not to. And I grow heirloom tomatoes, don’t eat the ones that look like
orange LAX balls.
Party on “de-Bunkers”
This is America.. I still have a voice and a choice.
