Harman Singh used his turban to stem the bleeding of a five-year-old boy who had been hit by a car on his way to school.

Nice. But now it’s a headline that a guy shows a sign of assimilating?

Sikh aren’t the same as the Sickos. But most people don’t know that, and therefore what you sat is true.

I am beginning to understand why a Sikh-American was shot dead after 9-11.

Turbines are useful for lots of things. Jet engines, for instance. ;^)

While I know and recognize that Sikhism is not a monotheistic religion, still my first thought is that any loving God would prefer life to be saved over standard rules of religious behavior. I am pretty certain that over the years many of all religions have done similar praise-worthy things with religious items.

As a comparison and contrast though, I am reminded of the fanatics who boarded up and killed school girls in a burning building because they would not be properly clothed if they fled the building. My head and heart has a hot place for people to end up for eternity!

It is not so clear-cut.There has been Sikh terror, but not nearly as common as muslim terror.

In my experience, if there is Sikh or Buddhist “terror”, another group caused it to happen. Muslims are usually a good bet.

Sikhs are good people. I used to work with one, an engineer. He wore his turban every day, and immaculate dressed.

One Saturday we were working overtime on a project, so the rest of the company (300+) was not there. He came in and I didn’t recognize him! He was not wearing his turban and suit. He was wearing some loose fitting robe thing and his hair and beard were nearly floor length!

So if you want to know what’s in that turban, it’s their hair and beard!...................

That's not assimilating. I would not see that as out of the ordinary for their culture, at all.

The Sikh families I have known are very family centric, and all children are celebrated and protected. I was on a long TDY and my wife was getting all frazzled about taking care of the kids and house, etc. I asked my Sikh friend to look in on her. He brought his parents over. Dad mowed the lawn and fixed a problem with an electrical circuit. Mom cleaned the house and made three days of meals for my wife. Needless to say, my view is a little skewed by the genuine love and caring that they gave to my family.

I wear a canvas belt for basically the same reason.
It can be used in a lot of emergency situations.
