Trouble in the Skies Adam Shapiro

FOX Business' "Trouble in the Skies," a six month investigation of the FAA’s new hiring practices, uncovered changes that may put the nation’s flying public at risk as well as allegations that the newest air traffic control recruits had access to answers on a key test that helped them gain jobs with the FAA.

snip...

Also uncovered was an FAA effort to promote diversity that discarded 3000 qualified college graduates with degrees in air traffic control despite their following FAA procedure and obtaining FAA accredited degrees.

Escape to wherever you can.

And just where would that be? Escape is not an option, because if the USA falls, just where is safe? I'm afraid we will have to fight here and, if necessary, die here.

I grew up in the Airline biz. Remember sitting in the rear facing seats in the DC-9’s as a Kid. I remember when they stopped giving out the Metal Wings to us and went to Plastic and then None. And getting Cockpit Tours, Flew from Ohio to Chicago just to go to LAX to ride in a 747 back to Houston when they 1st came out.

I’d be very hard pressed to get on a plane these days. If I won a Trip/Contest or got to go back to Hawaii again or to Alaska but that would be the only way any more.

Agreed. As Reagan said the nation is the last, best hope of mankind. This is it. America falls, it is all over. There will be no where to go. Civilization will be over and the forces of darkness will rule the eath.

I flew on Pan Am Clippers and later 707s many times across the Pacific as a kid and teenager. First Class. Those were the days.

I don't fly anymore, though.

Never been out of the USA Myself, Hawaii once in the mid 80’s so I did get some Pacific time.

I always hated having to wear a suit when I was a Kid flying on Passes. All the other people in Coach were in jeans and T-shirts. Then when I was told that with the suit if there were no Coach seats then We MIGHT get to ride 1st Class- We usually got Bumped off the A/C. I remember one time we had left the Gate and they turned the A/C back to the Gate and pulled Mom and I off to put on paying Pax. EVERYBODY glared at Us on the way off.

The FAA is a typical government operation, inefficient, incompetent, and corrupt. the EAA, AOPA and other General Aviation Organizations have been fighting the FAA over eliminating the third class medical cert. All studies indicate there is no relation to safety as proven by the LSA category which only requires a valid drivers license. the Crats are not serving the people!

FAA = Federal Anti-Aviation Admin

Not even on Spirit Airlines, whose CEO recently dismissed his company’s last-place customer satisfaction rating by saying, “Our customers don’t care, as long as it’s cheap!” ???

Back in the 80s, I hired three ATCs who were fired by Reagan. They were really smart people. I made programmers out of them. All three picked it up no problem.

I was a Patco controller myself. This story was about a black FAA employee supplying the answers to his members!

I know. Reminds me of the time lots of blacks were given advance copies of the promotional exam for sergeant on the MPDC.

Interesting that you should say that; while these policies are being done under the cover of “promoting diversity”, they are in fact a lowering of standards to deal with the reality that Tolkien’s elves are leaving (Middle) Earth. The WASPs who built this country are disappearing, succumbing to low/non-existent birthrates and a general lack of a sense of purpose; as a result, we are increasingly resembling the original homelands of the other groups here. Get used to sub-par, Third World-type performance in all things; we’ve already seen it start at the bottom, and now it is working its way up the socio-economic ladder.

Not really new. In the early 90s my friend applied for a job as an FAA Operations Inspector. Great qualifications: ATP, CFI, Navy flier, MBA with honors, 20 years in aviation. Immediately two FSDOs wanted to hire him. He traveled several times to the one he wanted to join to talk with the manager.

Then, at his last visit, the manager took him aside and said,"I'm sorry, Bob, but I've been ordered not to hire any more white men until I hire more women and people of color." And they did. George H.W. Bush was president at the time.

As Reagan said the nation is the last, best hope of mankind.

The keystone in the arch of Western Civilization.

If this country goes down, the whole thing collapses.

And The Won and the barbarians on the other end of his BlackBerry are making their plans based on that concept.

"Affirmative Action takes to the skies."

As a retired 35 year ATCS, I can assure you AA has been in FAA since the late 70's, this is just to speed things up. It seems as though the uhhh, right, people were not willing to go to college to get the job. This program insures lots of baby mommas will succeed.

If it were not for automation and TCAS, nobody would have the balls to get on a flying machine today.
