Dozens of police officers, 20 police cars, a helicopter, and SIX marksmen, go after a cow

Full title: Udder lunacy: Candlelit vigil planned after police scramble dozens of officers, 20 vehicles, a helicopter and SIX marksmen...to gun down one bewildered cow ambling along the street

Dozens of police, six snipers and helicopter gave chase to an escaped cow

It had gone on run with two others from a country park in North Tyneside

Police caught two but shot Bessie dead - claiming she posed risk to public

But use of force has angered onlookers, who plan to hold a candlelit vigil

Cornered by dozens of police officers, a helicopter, 20 squad vehicles and six snipers, the villain had nowhere left to run.

And with a single shot to the head the dramatic cross-country chase came to a deadly conclusion.

But the target in the police riflemen’s sights was not an escaped killer – it was Bessie the cow.

'Cruel and utterly pointless': Bessie the cow (pictured) was shot dead after being cornered by dozens of policemen, a helicopter, 20 squad vehicles and six snipers. She had escaped from a country park on Sunday

Locals are so upset at her unhappy end that they are planning a candlelit vigil tomorrow to remember her with 7,000 people 'liking' the event on Facebook.

Onlookers say ‘trigger-happy’ police should have tranquilised the animal instead, claiming it was peacefully chewing the cud when it was gunned down.

Bessie was among three cows to bolt from a country park after being spooked by a dog.

Sheesh. Does no one in Britain know how to pack a cow into a trailer and transport it?

I can tell by her body language in that picture that she’s pretty spooked and isn’t going to herd easy.

To bad it wasn’t a Muslim cow, the Brits would have evacuated the town so it could live wherever it wanted.

Wow. Imagine if that happened here. PETA would have hired out of work protesters and the demonstrations would begin.
The signs-—”COWS LIVES MATTER” would proliferate.
Across the nation mourners would hold cook-outs in memory of poor Bossie who went before her time.
In many areas meat would vanish from market coolers and fish stocks would become the most popular food.

Bessie goes when Bessie wants to go.

When I was a kid, my dad and I were helping my grandfather and uncle to move cattle between pastures that were situated across the highway from each other. All but one momma cow went without incident. The one momma cow wouldn't budge. They tried all manner of moving her.

Finally we tied the rope to my dad's '84 Bronco II (the mini Bronco). Low gear and moving slower than a walking pace, that cow finally budged. She locked her legs once on the asphalt, and skidded part way across, but she fought it the whole time, even with her calf already being in the new pasture.

When the only tool you own is a firearm, pretty soon every problem looks like a target.
