Adopted 'Father' and 'Son' to Marry
Daily Beast ^ | 20 May 2015 | not given

Adopted 'Father' and 'Son' to Marry Pennsylvania couple Bill Novak and Norman MacArthur are legally adopted father and son, but soon they will marry. The couple of more than 50 years registered as domestic partners in 1994, but were told after moving from New York City to Pennsylvania that “hell would freeze over before Pennsylvania approves same sex marriage.” Since they needed to do estate planning, a lawyer advised them that the only way to become legally related was through adoption. This year, however, a federal district court declared the state’s same-sex marriage ban unconstitutional, so the couple petitioned to vacate their adoption decree and now may legally marry. “We are ecstatic beyond relief,” MacArthur said. “I feel an enormous sense of not only relief but freedom that we can finally do something in Pennsylvania that I’ve been dreaming of for years.”

No such thing in Texas - we basically don’t have inheritance taxes unless the estate exceeds the federal estate tax threshhold (currently between $5m and $15m, depending on circumstances).

It was the hospitals that started this entire mess.

Possibly. I am guessing they probably would have found some of excuse. All this gay “marriage” nonsense picked up lightning speed as the internet became more and more common.
Along with global warming and the rest of the nonsense that is invading normal America.

Well that is so true. The internet is a positive and negative for us all. I think overall it is a great tool, but it is also a big way to pass untrue information or at least over exaggerated information.

Polygamy will be next. After all, you can’t deny people their “love”, can you? Then multiple couples, then legalizing “intergenerational” couplings (read pedophilia), then marrying siblings. Who knows what after that.

What do you gain from marriage that you can’t just legally do in a contract as a beneficiary?

There are many legal rights and benefits of marriage that cannot be gained through contract. Taxation, Social Security, Immigration (obviously not relevant for this particular couple), etc.

I honestly don’t care. They love each other..mazel tov. But why can’t they settle the inheritance stuff through legal means? What do you gain from marriage that you can’t just legally do in a contract as a beneficiary?

Become legally-recognized "next of kin", which can be important when hospitalized.

yeah, I suppose they are happy to marry without having to share genes as done in heterosexual conception based marriage. Only an extention of the pill and abortion to avoid negro babies, all civil rights violations, transforming a society into a slavery, much like that of Pharoh’s Hebrew slaves

Also... marriage is a unique contract in that it obligates 3rd parties to recognize and treat the contract parties in certain ways. ... A group of 397 persons can contract among themselves to treat each other in certain ways, obligate themselves to each other in certain ways, to love, respect, honor, cherish, hold hands, etc. (They can do this, btw, without having to know each other personally. They can be male, female, relatives, etc.....) What this contracted group of 397 CANNOT do however is obligate the hospital to allow all of them in to visit, obligate the insurance company to give them all insurance under one policy, obligate the IRS to file taxes as a marital union, obligate the courts to enforce spousal rights during land purchases, and so on.

Recent court decisions have used equal protection reasoning (improperly, incorrectly) to rationalize homosexual marriage. In my opinion, this has done two things:

1) Outlawed ALL licensing by government bodies. Equal protection is denied to any party who does not meet any requirement of the license. The state MUST allow me to fish for trout during bass fishing season. The state MUST not deny me the right to practice psychiatry or brain surgery, even though I have not passed any licensing tests.

2) Opened the LEGAL door to "polygamous" marriage to parties hundreds and thousands and millions. For $20 you can marry me and I will extend to you my health insurance coverage which ACME Health Ins. extends to married parties. Sign up via internet and send me $20 via PayPal.
