I wonder what the pistol was? A drum magazine is not that common.

I think you can get a 50 round magazine for a Glock Pistol.

They are pricier. And, they are out there. For the magazine changing challenged. Available for most major semi auto pistols.

You can buy em for almost every handgun, glock, beretta, browning high powers, 1911’s, Sig’s H&K etc..... Was issued a Glock 18 back when that had a few drum mags for it ..... fun yet more of a bag gun versus a concealed tool of the trade. I did use the 33 round stick mags that were also issued with it. The drum mags are impractical imho yet worked for this bad guy.

There are drums for Glock 9mm pistols. You can use them with KelTec Sub2000 carbines, too.
