ISIS seizes large weapons arsenal abandoned by Iraqi Army in Ramadi says US Department of Defense

The US Department of Defense “Pentagon” accused the Iraqi army of leaving behind large quantities of weapons and ammunition when it pulled out of the city of Ramadi on Sunday. The weapons, which have been seized by ISIS, include tanks, armored vehicles and heavy guns.

After the fall of the city of Mosul at the hands of ISIS last June, the latter have seized massive amounts of American weapons and sophisticated gear left by the Iraqi army. After this date ISIS became stronger; it doubled its strength and its fighters became roaming by “Humvee” vehicles and American tanks and they sent a large portion of these weapons to ISIS elements in Syria as well.

What happened in Mosul is repeated now in Ramadi, according to the US Department of Defense. The Pentagon published a statement in which it accused the Iraqi army that it left behind, during its withdrawal from Ramadi, six tanks mostly usable, and a similar number of heavy guns, along with dozens of personnel carriers, and nearly 100 “Humvee” armored vehicles, in addition to unknown quantities of medium and heavy ammunition.

I wish the stupid GOP would learn that this will happen a 3rd time if this country gets the bright idea to invade somewhere else. The GOP likes war, the DNC likes genocide. Lousy combo.

I am going to out on a limb here and predict that ISIS will take Saudi Arabia and 0bama will not miss a round of golf over it.

“The Iraqis don’t even bother to fight them, they just abandon entire cities!”

How do think Islam spread from the sands of Saudi Arabia to southern France in just 15 short years, in the 7th century?

“Maybe they were busy spying on our allies”.
More probably they were busy spying on us. Especially us rabid “right wingers”.

Watch them retake Haditha dam next

Hadith dam seems to be upstream from Ramadi, so I don't think they would want to destroy the dam intentionally. But on the other hand, I have read the dam needs constant maintenance and is not stable, so if it behind enemy lines, it might rupture due to neglect.

In other news...During a commencement address at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy today, President Obama cast climate change as posing an "immediate risk to our national security."

Juxtaposed against the news ut of Ramadi, we are so completely screwed. There's no leadership on the horizon strong enough to take this tanned pencil off his national soap box of uselessness. WTF are we supposed to do now? We just watch while our tanks, our APCs and our Humvees are re-purposed for evil. And no one speaks out in DC to call out the utter folly of this president.

He is now setting on an initiative to degrade our military even further with climate change BS and where the F are our republicans? Has there been a better time to point out the idiocy of this guy and his whole party. Nope. I can't think of more demoralizing scene than what's coming out of Iraq this week. It's worse than seeing that French guy crying as the Nazis did their victory parade through Paris in 1940.

“What would stop ISIS from using that equipment to invade and conquer Saudi Arabia? Who would stop them?”

I suspect they won’t be able to use the tanks to their full advantage without training. It takes a good general to use the weapons he has. The tanks require a huge logistics chain with constant tankers ferrying fuel to the front. The tanks will not run for long without maintenance. They may get some use out of the tanks, but they won’t be invading Saudi Arabia with them. The tanks are vulnerable to air attack and the fuel trucks would be smoking hulks.

The Iraqi’s were way-over-estimated, someone should have know this was going to be a mismatch fight.

The coalition should seek a new leader. I heard on FOXNews there are 60 coalition members, do they get a vote or are they all stuck in Iraq?

They have captured fighter jets as well, months ago. I haven't heard that they've been able to use them. They will never be able to maintain the big ticket items, so they will not be able to use them. But I would be concerned with them scrapping them and selling the parts to North Korea or someone else that we would rather not get them.

This is what I was talking about. All I can say is ; “HEY OBAMA, YOU NEED TO CONTINUE TO ARM ALL THESE “RABBITS” THAT WILL BUG OUT AT THE SOUND OF ISIS GUNS. HOW ELSE IS ISIS GOING TO RE-ARM THEMSELVES? These ISIS group is running out of ABRAHAM TANKS, OBAMA has to re-supply these “RABBITS” so that ISIS will have the most modern tanks.

Yeah, I’m looking that way too. Keep up the infiltration and harassment campaign in Baghdad as a distraction, and go for the dam. Never fear, we’ll figure it about the time that wall of water arrives.

Maybe he (Obama) has a plan. A brilliant grand ME strategy, setting up Sunis vs Shites etc for power balance. When the 12th imam emerges, hen we swoop in for the win.

(yeah, me neither.)

Having been in military technology production for an entire career I have a good view of what you can and can’t do with a piece of hardware. Anything ISSIS captured will not be very useful to anybody. As you point out it won’t be working for long. It isn’t top of the line technology and even if it is almost nobody can take a piece of complex hardware and duplicate it. (Much of it is difficult to build correctly when you own the technical data package and have access to the people who designed it.) But on top of that you have to have an operator who is trained and most things are part of systems designed to work together. All the components must work and that means a lot of people working together. Imagine the Mongol horde captured a bunch of radios and radar sets. It’s almost that bit a gap between ISSIS and a trained, practiced and logistically supported military. They aren’t winning because they’re sophisticated. They are probably wining because high ranking Iraqis want them to win and have betrayed their own military.

In the face of trained warriors, ISIS will fold like 98% of Saddam’s so-called ‘Million Man Army.’ They’re just a bunch of mouthy punks who got militarily lucky in the face of weak opposition like the Polish Horse Cavalry Vs. Hitler’s Panzers.
