Governor Walker Breaks Silence On Patriot Act, NSA Stance
TruthInMedia ^ | May 19, 2015

Appearing on Fox News’ Special Report with Bret Baier, presumptive Republican presidential candidate Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker gave Americans their first preview on where a President Walker would stand on civil liberties issues such as NSA spying authorized by the highly controversial Patriot Act.

Baier pushed Walker to give a “yes” or “no” on whether or not he would reauthorize the controversial NSA spying program by asking him whether or not he would vote for it if he were currently a sitting Senator. Walker, responding with typical political rhetoric, never actually answering Baier’s question, but instead said, that the meta-data collected was necessary and access to it was needed.

Earlier in the month, the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the NSA spy program is illegal.

This puts Walker at odds with declared conservative candidates Senators Rand Paul and Ted Cruz. Although Cruz did once vote to re-authorize the Patriot Act, he now seems prepared to stand against the upcoming re-authorization vote. Paul, the most staunch opponent of NSA spying in the Senate, is preparing to filibuster the upcoming Patriot Act re-authorization vote.

I couldn’t agree with you more.

~~Cruz, OR LOSE~~ Ted Cruz is the only true Conservative in this race.

I have not had my life impacted in any negative way by the Patriot Act. There are Amendments being proposed to limit the NSA and still protect us.

I live in a state that has two terrorist training camps within 60 miles of where I live. Frankly, I don’t care if someone crawls up their butts with a periscope.

Keep up the good work. Some folks don’t like to hear facts that do not put their candidates in a favorable light, but we have to be responsible enough to Vet candidates. You are making a valuable contribution in doing that.

Most, if not all of the Patriot Act (interesting name for legislation that violates the Constitution six ways to Sunday)
is worthless for its supposed purpose. Ditto for Homeland Security, which is just another step towards nationalized domestic cops.

Don’t buy into the notion that ANY of this is for the purpose of preventing or dealing with EXTERNAL security threats. It’s not, never was and most importantly, NEVER will be.

We have in place the agencies and capabilities to do that. But they are all corrupted, they share as little info with each other as possible and are in a perpetual pissing contest. And that is why 9/11 happened, not because we didn’t have the Patriot Act and Homeland Security (Big Brother is watching you. He doesn’t give a damn about foreign terrorists.)

If any of this mattered, they wouldn’t be bringing in thousands of Syrian and Muslim “refugees” in semi secret and placing them all over the country. None of these so called refugees have been vetted. So why in God’s name is a police state that watches only Americans necessary for “security”?? The US government, for all practical purposes, is supplying the manpower for subversive cells all over the country.

But, hell yeah, we need the Patriot Act to track American born Constitutionalists.

Walker is not particularly articulate.

Yes, he does not have the slimy charm. Pretty plain speaking.

His only claim to fame is he went against the Unions and won.

If you believe that, you haven't been paying attention. There is a very long list of things he has accomplished in Wisconsin. Voter ID. Concealed carry (49th state, jeeze). Cut Planned Parenthood funding. Held the line on taxes (but admittedly, a long, long ways to go on that).

For some reason many folks claim the union stuff, while very big by itself, is the only thing he has done. That is just not true. Walker is a doer.

"Although Cruz did once vote to re-authorize the Patriot Act,..."

They're politicians. Walker's honesty will turn voters against him. It's yet another propaganda attack from bureaucrats, who don't want spending cuts. The most influential con$tituent$ are those wanting the surveillance and will cut off campaign funding to any candidate they really believe will oppose the surveillance.

On politicians, see what they’ve done, not what they say.

You know, something clicks in my memory. I distinctly remember some people here telling FRdom that there would be NO feet held to the fire.

But no. No one would listen to those people. Folks knew better.

That clarion call would be SO much clearer if: the borders were CLOSED, illegals caught/removed, the Muslim Brotherhood were not inner sanctum to the W.H., Dumbo was not running arms to the Syrians/etc., if the Boston bombed was thwarted....

Yet, I can point to numerous instances of govt, once given power, has overstepped their ‘initial’ “It will go to XYZ”: seat belts, income taxes (hell TAXES in general. Tolls, fees...), smoking...Hell, tell me how ‘safe and few’ abortions are these days!?

If the NSA program is to be justified whatsoever, it must be explicitly limited towards collecting data from actual threats: Leftists and Leftist groups alone (including illegals, Muslims, Democrats, GOP Leftists, explicit liberal lobbying groups, and covert liberal lobbying groups). What part of that is too complicated for politicians to express?

"We can’t vote our way out of this, folks."

The 2012 election proved that to me as well.

Thumbs DOWN. NO on Walker.

Walker is the ONLY hope for the Republican party....he is a proven winner, successful governor, and has no fear whatsoever of the Democrat party.....has defeated them in every contest....,

“I trust Cruz to make sound decisions based on our Constitution. All of the privacy in the world means nothing if you are dead from a terrorist attack.”

This is the great thing about Cruz being a highly (Harvard) educated lawyer. He is well aware of the relatively unknown clause in the Constitution that says that the government doesn’t have to honor the Bill of Rights if it thinks it is in our best interests.
