A House Democrat has introduced legislation that would require sellers to obtain a background check for all guns sold at gun shows.
Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.) on Tuesday reintroduced the Gun Show Loophole Closing Act, a bill long championed by former Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.),.
The bill would subject anyone selling or transferring a gun to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System and require that transfers be reported to the attorney general.

How many years have these people seen that these so-called gun control bills don’t help anything & they still keep pushing this nonsense? They never seem to learn that outlaws don’t follow the law & the gun laws only make life difficult for honest citizens who have the right to have weapons. It is so simple to understand,but of course you have to WANT to understand it.
Create a database of people that don’t have guns in their home and publish a map of that.

What purposes does this serve other than political persecution?

They call it by a different name but continue doing what they want to do: register all LEGAL guns. (They deliberately and intentionally refuse to take guns from violent criminals)
Agreed, she doesn’t get to be special anymore just because a black guy killed her husband. It happens every single day.
I see too many of my conservative FRiends using the Free Speech / First Amendment analogy, and saying (sarcastically) that we should regulate that right like the Second Amendment is regulated.
There's a huge problem with that: The left WANTS TO DO EXACTLY THAT. The internet power-grab is all about creating 'hate speech' laws that allow the government to prosecute, seize computers, and deny access to those who commit the offense of Free Speech. 'Hate speech', of course, will be any criticism of homosexuals, muslims, or government excess and control.
Thankfully, McCarthy is finally gone from Congress. She’s busy now, suing the companies that allegedly gave her lung cancer via asbestos exposure. Unfortunately, there is no shortage of morons in the legislative branch who are willing to carry on in her stead.
I think she is letting the cat out of the bag too soon. The dirty little secret is that the gun grabber totalitarians know that when they get “universal background checks,” they will discover they don’t work.
There are millions of guns in the Free States that are not registered with anyone. Maybe a hundred million. A “universal background check” violation can’t be proved if a sale between private parties could have been done before the check is required.
It’s like high capacity magazine bans. The 94 Clinton Gun Act just restricted sale of new magazines. How could anyone prove you had a new magazine with millions of old ones out there?
The non-free states now ban even possession of hi-cap magazines. They learned.
They will “discover” that a universal background check will only be enforceable when there is “universal” registration.
Then the confiscation and genocides begin.
I suspect she just wants to “legalize” what the US government has already done in violation of current law. I don’t for a second think they are destroying any requests for a background check. The US government lies more than the old Soviet regime. Sad...
I remember her when she ran for office the very first time. One of her (phony) campaign promises was that the only reason why she ran on the Demo ticket was because of the gun issue. In her heart and mind (according to her), she was still a Republican on all other issues.
Of course only weeks later I watched her trash the Republican stance on the Medicaid and social security issues, using the Democrat talking points (read: propaganda) exactly word for word.
After she got elected her liberal rating hovered around 65. Over the years it creeped up to 90.
The database is what background checks are all about anyway.
We SHOULD regulate the 2nd....like we do the ‘Right to an Abortion’

You also forgot to mention the CNC mills/machines, 3D printing, machine shops, etc. that can spit out lowers/frames/magazines
Where there’s $$/black-market vs. want/need/buyer, people WILL find a way.
That’s another reason why they have to make it illegal to possess an “unregistered” firearm.
As an aside, you might be surprised at how many people, even in Free States, think firearms already have to be registered.
