The vice president’s office said Beau Biden was receiving treatment at Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Officials did not specify what he was being treated for, though a source with knowledge of the Biden family called the situation “serious.”

In 2013, Beau Biden was admitted to a Houston hospital that specializes in cancer treatment after feeling disoriented and weak while on vacation. He was later diagnosed with a brain lesion and underwent surgery.

In 2010, the younger Biden suffered what doctors said was a mild stroke. His speech and motor skills were not affected.

I know he was in the national guard (?) at one time but why is he receiving treatment at a military facility?

I was not aware of National Guard being eligible for care at Walter Reed, unless activated and on active duty at the time of admission.

Is this a new thing...or is he just "privileged"?

I'm aware of his service and he has my appreciation for it, however, unless he is AD or his treatment is service connected, I don't think he should have Walter Reed access.

Even if he is the VP's son...but he is 45 or so. so...

I'm sure he is VA eligible, why isn't he there, or is it that they don't trust the VA?

So many questions...

My mistake. I was thinking of the OTHER Biden son, not Beau.

Isn’t this the son who suffered most in the car accident that killed his wife? I wonder if there has been long-term cerebral damage from that wreck?

Joe’s had a brain aneurysm hasn’t he? My sister had four, and I was told by the neurologist that they can be hereditary. Because of that I had a scan of my head, but all they found was a “vacancy” sign :-)

Per Wikipedia he has earned his VA benefits.

Military service[edit]
Biden joined the military in 2003[6] as a member of the Delaware Army National Guard and is a Major in the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps as part of the 261st Signal Brigade in Smyrna, Delaware.[7][8]

Biden’s unit was activated to deploy to Iraq on October 3, 2008, and sent to Fort Bliss, Texas, for pre-deployment training,[9] the day after his father participated in the 2008 presidential campaign’s only vice presidential debate. His father is on the record as saying, “I don’t want him going. But I tell you what, I don’t want my grandson or my granddaughters going back in 15 years, and so how we leave makes a big difference.”[10]

Biden traveled to Washington, D.C., from Iraq in January 2009 for the presidential inauguration and his father’s swearing-in as Vice President,[11] then returned to Iraq.[12] Biden received a visit at Camp Victory from his father on July 4, 2009.[13] Biden returned from Iraq in September 2009, his yearlong stint on active duty complete.[14] Biden had announced that during his deployment he would continue to actively serve as Delaware’s Attorney General by working in conjunction with his office’s senior staff in Delaware,[15] although a member of his unit related Biden saying he had turned over most of his attorney general work to his deputy so as to focus on his duties in Iraq.[16] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beau_Biden

He was in Iraq at one point, so I guess that qualifies him to be at Walter Reed.

Save your prayers for someone who needs them.

This man and his family have made the State their god.
