U.S. indicts 6 Chinese citizens on charges of stealing trade secrets

A federal grand jury has indicted six Chinese citizens for what authorities say was a long-running conspiracy to steal valuable technology from two U.S. firms for the benefit of the Chinese government.

The indictment, unsealed Monday, highlights the threat posed by insiders who use their position to steal sensitive information on behalf of a foreign government or for financial gain and is part of a larger trend by the U.S. government to step up efforts to deter Chinese theft of trade secrets.

It is also a manifestation of the ongoing innovation war between China and the United States and could increase tensions in an already-fraught relationship.

“According to the charges in the indictment, the defendants leveraged their access to and knowledge of sensitive U.S. technologies to illegally obtain and share U.S. trade secrets with the [People’s Republic of China] for economic advantage,” said Assistant Attorney General John Carlin, head of the national security division. “Economic espionage imposes great costs on American businesses, weakens the global marketplace and ultimately harms U.S. interests worldwide.”

Don’t see why they had to steal them - the Democrats give away our secrets for free.

I remember reading that when Clinton was president he gave away the secret to how our submarines were so quiet. Had something to do with the was the propeller was designed - something about three axis grinding, whatever. And the machinery to do it. He’s a traitor in my book along with 0bama, Kerry and the rest of that gang.

Clinton, along with Loral Space, transferred satellite tech that allowed the Chinese to finally get a sat into orbit. Worse, mirv tech was transferred too - it allows multiple warheads on a single ICBM.

Just asking. Has the WP author Nakashima or those in the Dept. of Justice who are charging and prosecuting this Red Chinese economic espionage case, ever stopped to think that these were not just “economic gain” crimes, but that those involved were Red Chinese agents, spies, assets, operatives (pick one or all terms)?

You read almost NOTHING in the mainstream media about the massive Red Chinese intelligence operations against the US except for a cyberwarfare/hacking attack(s).

It is much larger than anyone thinks (nobody in the White House “thinks” but a few in our intel groups do).

Clinton allowed this RC espionage and election funding subversion to go on (ask Al Gore about that) and the Dems (and some Republicans) have let it flourish like “Let a 100 Flowers Bloom”.

IT used to called treason in the old days. Today, it is called “Democrats business as usual”.

As Obama has said, “Yes I Did”.

Yes, exactly. Add Hillary, Bernard Schwartz along with Li Zhaoxing, Johnny Chung, Charlie Trie, Ng Lap Seng, Sidney Blumenthal, and countless more traitors in the Democrat party.

IT used to called treason in the old days. Today, it is called “Democrats business as usual”.

The thinking seems to go: "You can't beat them, anyway - so you might as well sell to them. They'll appreciate our flexibility, and our best technology is still two decades ahead of them so we have nothing to worry about."

And that will work until it doesn't. It certainly makes some defense contractors and politicians very rich in the short run.
