Still, the move to collar longtime Clintonista Sid Blumenthal qualifies as a major development for the Benghazi Select Committee investigation:
Representative Trey Gowdy of South Carolina, a Republican who is leading the congressional committee investigating the 2012 attacks in Benghazi, Libya, plans to subpoena Mr. Blumenthal, 66, for a private transcribed interview.
Mr. Gowdy’s chief interest, according to people briefed on the inquiry, is a series of memos that Mr. Blumenthal — who was not an employee of the State Department — wrote to Mrs. Clinton about events unfolding in Libya before and after the death of Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi. According to emails obtained by The New York Times, Mrs. Clinton, who was secretary of state at the time, took Mr. Blumenthal’s advice seriously, forwarding his memos to senior diplomatic officials in Libya and Washington and at times asking them to respond. Mrs. Clinton continued to pass around his memos even after other senior diplomats concluded that Mr. Blumenthal’s assessments were often unreliable.
But an examination by The Times suggests that Mr. Blumenthal’s involvement was more wide-ranging and more complicated than previously known, embodying the blurry lines between business, politics and philanthropy that have enriched and vexed the Clintons and their inner circle for years.
Blumenthal will make a key witness on at least two different threads of the investigation. First, he can provide testimony on Hillary Clinton’s use of the private e-mail server, as previously hacked e-mails show that he used that system to bypass the State Department and communication directly with Hillary,

I think that the way George Stephanopoulos will try to save himself is that he will conference with Hillary and she will allow him to expose her in some tiny scandal, since she has plenty she can pull off the shelf undiscovered as of yet. That way, he can rescue his credibility and Hillary can absorb a tiny scandal easy enough.
The “Smoking Gun” will come out—and it will shake the very foundations of the Republic. I believe it will trace back to the Oval Office. Hillary will never be president. This is worse than Nixon—the corruption —I feel—Runs deep.

Gowdy will force a statement out of Sid. The angle to this? There’s talk that WikiLeaks has various copies of emails between Hillary and Sid. Let’s say that Sid gives his version of things (version 1.0), and a week later....WikiLeaks releases it’s emails and it’s vastly different between the version 1.0 and version 2.0. Gowdy turns some accusations over to a legal team to prosecute Sid. Sid, in order to avoid jail....has to come clean with Gowdy.

The legal team for the federal government with the power to prosecute is the Justice Department which was controlled by Eric Holder and is now controlled by Loretta Lynch reporting to Barack Obama. The Justice Department made the decision not to prosecute Lois Lerner. Gowdy can turn any evidence and testimony he wishes to the Justice Department. Unless the Justice Department chooses to prosecute, no leftist needs to fear jail.
Forward the clock to January 2017. Hillary is inaugurated as President. Her Justice Department will give everyone involved in Benghazi a free pass. Jeb is inaugurated. Historically the new administration of the opposing party does not prosecute crimes or misdeeds of the previous administration. How many Clinton people were prosecuted by George W. Bush’s administration? How many Bush administration officials were prosecuted by Barack Obama’s administration?
The Democrats do not prosecute their own. Republicans historically have persecuted and prosecuted their own under pressure from the press and Democrats — Jack Abramoff and Scooter Libby during the Bush administration come to mind.
Sid Blumenthal sleeps well at night as does Lois Lerner, John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Eric Holder, and all of the other Democrats in Washington. They all know Loretta Lynch will not prosecute them and they know if an establishment Republican assumes office in January 2017 they are home free. If you don’t believe it, then why is Jon Corzine a free man?
The people in Washington who do not sleep well at night are Republicans who know or suspect what Barack Obama’s NSA, FBI, IRS, and CIA know about their sexual habits, tax issues and financial dealings. Watch Boehner and McConnell drive Obama’s legislative agenda. Look at Corker’s work on trade legislation and the Iran deal. Watch Alexander, Hatch, Collins, and McCain whisk the nominations of the most radical, Marxists through the approval process for federal judgeships and appointments to the bureaucracy. Read the responses of your GOP Congresscritters when you call them out on their votes to further the progressive agenda. All of these Republicans know if they step out of line, they’ll get the Dennis Hastert treatment.
In an honest government, this would have been the case years ago.
Sadly, this government - all three branches - is unrecognizable from that which our Founding Fathers designed.
It is corrupt to the core from top to bottom.
