I said nothing at all about the use of a sidearm as a means of persuasion. That is only the last step in a wide range of options.

But planting the seed of intimidation, or outright naked fear, in the heart of the suspect sometimes has wondrous effect when it comes to managing criminal behavior.

What are the other steps? If you're okay with shoving a gun down someone's throat to "manage criminal behavior" where do you draw the line?

So you’re saying it is a possible manner of intimidating a suspect. Awesome.

Planting outright naked fear into a suspect leads to police doing shit like beating suspects and ultimately killing them. Not what I want out of a police force.

They seem to always pick trial by judge, instead of jury. I wonder why? And the outcome is usually different for them that it would be for an ordinary citizen. I just wish there were 1 set of laws for everyone.
