In a recent panel discussion on poverty at Georgetown University, President Barack Obama gave another demonstration of his mastery of rhetoric — and disregard of reality.
One of the ways of fighting poverty, he proposed, was to "ask from society's lottery winners" that they make a "modest investment" in government programs to help the poor.
Since free speech is guaranteed to everyone by the First Amendment to the Constitution, there is nothing to prevent anybody from asking anything from anybody else. But the federal government does not just "ask" for money. It takes the money it wants in taxes, usually before the people who have earned it see their paychecks.
Despite pious rhetoric on the left about "asking" the more fortunate for more money, the government does not "ask" anything. It seizes what it wants by force. If you don't pay up, it can take not only your paycheck, it can seize your bank account, put a lien on your home and/or put you in federal prison.
So please don't insult our intelligence by talking piously about "asking."
And please don't call the government's pouring trillions of tax dollars down a bottomless pit "investment." Remember the soaring words from Barack Obama, in his early days in the White House, about "investing in the industries of the future"? After Solyndra and other companies in which he "invested" the taxpayers' money went bankrupt, we haven't heard those soaring words so much.
Then there are those who produced the wealth that politicians want to grab. In Obama's rhetoric, these producers are called "society's lottery winners."
Was Bill Gates a lottery winner? Or did he produce and sell a computer operating system that allows billions of people around the world to use computers, without knowing anything about the inner workings of this complex technology?

You cannot take any people, of any color, and exempt them from the requirements of civilization — including work, behavioral standards, ... that the clever intelligentsia disdain — without ruinous consequences to them and to society at large.
The out for this is the self hating modifier. So Tom Sowell is a self hating black. Problem solved!
I have quoted Sowell to a libinlaw and when they disagreed,
I said “you must be a racist, because you disagree with a black man. At least, that’s what we’ve been hearing since Obama was running for office.”
No coherent response, of course, besides “that’s absurd”.
Sowell is back on.
Obama is the one who won the lottery. He was a shiny tool the lily white left found to use to get into the highest office of the land, to gain power for those who thought the Soviet Union was a great idea. When he walked in with his tan skin, nappy hair, talking Marx in white diction, wowie!! Billy Ayers could stop blowing up his girlfriends in the basement: with a sap like this Obama guy (african name!! The cherry on top!!), he could walk right into the front door of the White House.
The mass adoration he’d always sought, plus a bevy of handsome sex partners, all the money he could ever spend for life, and it would only cost him behaving as their puppet for eight years. Big whoop, he agreed with it all, already! He hated the country already! How much luckier could one gay semi black illegal alien get!?!
Politicians, and the ever ginormous bureaucrats/gubmint paper pushers. And universal abysmal results. Show us something/anything they do well.
Unlike a private business, if you suck at doing something, you will go under real soon. But not gubmints, all levels of gubmints.

Ironic, isn’t it? Dr. Sowell descended from genuine African slaves. ObaMao’s forebears were of the people who captured and sold them.
The top earners provide so much benefit to society, we’d be much better off not taxing them at all — or at least changing tax laws so that all income above $1 million per year is tax free. Think of all the money that would STAY IN THE ECONOMY if we did that. More investment capital.
Not only does the government not "ask" for your tax money, they force you to be a government accountant and keep records year round for an idiotic tax system, and to pay a stranger to save you from Uncle's IRS henchmen. The government is much kinder to the non working and to the illegal aliens, however.
