Dan Wesson double action revolvers are back. It has been about 10 years since there have been new production DW revolvers on the market. CZ USA, which bought the Dan Wesson company in 2005, have made pistols under the name, but (until late last year) only a very limited number of revolvers. I am sure some of you reading this are familiar with the Dan Wesson’s. But I also bet there are a number of you that have no clue or think it must be a brand related to Smith & Wesson. For a little clarity lets take a look at Dan Wesson the man and a brief history of his company before we get to the review gun.

I wouldn’t want to use a python for an intruder. After the cops are done with it you’d never see it again.

Dan Wesson double action revolvers are back.

As long as we're bringing back 19th century anachronisms, let's also bring back the Model T, the steam locomotive and the Curtiss Jenny. Most of the world has moved on from wheel guns.

Dan Wesson is just a brand name. Resurrected, traded and sold, the name now has no relationship to the man or the products he created. Just like Indian. The only thing these guns, and those motorcycles, have in common with the original products is the name and logo. I wouldn’t get all excited about Dan Wesson revolvers “Coming back”. They aren’t. CZ is just putting the name they bought on their products because they think they will sell better as Dan Wesson revolvers than as CZ revolvers.

Your point is well taken.

Springfield Armory has no relation to the original Springfield Armory. Henry Repeating Arms also have no relation to the original Henry rifles.

That does not mean they are not good products as they are.

In the case of Dan Wesson, at least the revolvers appear to be of the same design as the originals. I don’t know that for sure but they sure look like them.

Yes. But I’d never see the intruder again either. LOL!

The only DW revolver I used way back had cylinders/chambers so rough that one had to pound the empties out with a dowel.

You could actual see the machine marks in them.

I hope the new ones are better

The two DW revolvers I owned were very well made in every way.

with so many different owners, I can see how quality could have varied.
