Voters that embraced what became known as the pink tide that swept away the pro-Washington, free-market policies dominant in the 1990s are increasingly tuning hostile against the populist firebrands they once rallied behind.
Across the region, polling numbers are tanking and street protests are on the rise.
Triggering the growing disenchantment are some serious economic headwinds. Most leaders came into power just as China’s economy was soaring and with it demand for South America’s abundant natural resources. Santos ran as a solid “kill em all” buy but then caved into obola and euroweenies.
The economy there is booming and construction of new homes, factories, hospitals, offices and more is rampant. They have a stable economy and a pension system that is second to Chile’s. Colombians want no part of socialism!!!

Brazil’s leftists President is embattled and practically out of power. Argentina’s leftist president is also dead in the water with her legacy. Chavismo is dying rapidly in Venezuala but there will be violence. Chile is seeing a reaction against its own leftist president (isn’t it strange theat the Presidents of argentina, brazil and chile are all leftist women?)

My wife is from Colombia, and she was quie upset that her pesidential choice was between Santos and Mockus. She didn’t believe either one should be president, and really just wanted Urribe to continue. Now I guess everyone is of that opinion, yes?
Uribe is now a Senator...great man. I remember when he spoke to congress here. He thanked the people of the USA for all the help we gave and so on. When he left office there were billboards all over the place thanking him for saving Colombia. He is like Reagan. Colombia was a basket case when he was first elected. Now the economy is booming with a growth of about 4%, construction is going like crazy and as a free economy money is pouring in. Int’l cos are setting up SA headquarters there.

FWIW, Im pre planning a motorcycle trip through Colombia with a friend from here in Florida, originally from Manizales, and a couple of other guys. The roads are great in the country but can be rough in some of the smaller towns. Looking to make the trip in mid Jan.
To any libtards lurking Id say Colombia is extremely dangerous and dont visit....
