It turns out Ted Cruz does not get his insurance through Obamacare

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) wants to kill Obamacare, but he admitted that he might have to sign up for it after his wife took a leave from her job and its benefits.

As it turns out, Cruz never signed up for Obamacare. He purchased his family's health insurance off the open market.

Cruz and his wife, Heidi, purchased a private health insurance plan from Texas Blue Cross and Blue Shield, campaign spokesman Rick Tyler said Saturday.

"They didn't buy it off the exchange," Tyler said. There was no gap between coverage, and the Cruz family never enrolled in a plan through the Affordable Care Act. He would not give details on the plan the Cruz family has, nor discuss the cost.

Did I miss something the past few weeks. When did WP get bought my Murdoch?
Yesterday’s article was about how conservatives give better commencement speeches. Constant pantsuit bashing.
I’m confused.

He said a while back that he might get on Obamacare, but some people take that to mean that he definitively did when it’s not really the case, “might” is not a definite term.

I can’t blame Cruz. When I purchased insurance, I made sure the name Obama wasn’t on it. Turns out, they’re all the same anyway.

yeah but this puts Cruz in a good light. Something the WP is usually utterly against.
They probably have their one token semi conservative writer.

...UH, okay.

Is the Washington Post trying to attack Cruz because of this?

Because there is a whole lot more important stuff out there than Ted Cruz and his health insurance.

Ted Cruz, our last chance. The one man who stands between us and socialism.

Like Free Republic, Ted Cruz needs to be funded. It is ignorant to believe either will survive if we don’t get smart real fast.

What plan out there is not affected by 0bamaCare? They all have to comply with that stinking law don't they? Everyone is still forced at the point of a gun to get insurance aren't they?

RPEAL OBAMACARE!

Ted and Heidi Cruz made a very wise decision in my opinion.

I also have a private health insurance HSA plan from Texas Blue Cross and Blue Shield even though I'm eligible for very substantial subsidies with an Obamacare policy on the federal exchange.

NO WAY on God's green earth was I going to get more involved with the federal government to provide my insurance or supply personal information on the HealthCare.gov hacker-heaven website. Stay as far away from the atrocity of Obamacare as is legally possible.

Ted Cruz could get his insurance from Idi Amin’s aunt Chloris.

What the hell does that have to do with anything?

Further, and forgive my ignorance, but if I were a Senator
I’d pretty much figure the job came with an insurance plan.

If he doesn’t like it, then fine. He got another one.

WASHINGTON (AP) – Texas Senator Ted Cruz says he is signing up his family for health care coverage through the Affordable Care Act – a law the Republican presidential candidate has vowed to repeal should he win the White House.

>>>>
Cruz on Tuesday told The Des Moines Register that his family is looking at plans offered under the health care law. <<<<
The Cruz family previously received its coverage through a plan offered by his wife’s employer. Heidi Cruz is taking an unpaid leave of absence to help her husband’s campaign and is losing access to her health care plan.
The Texas Republican has been a strident opponent of the health care law, also known as Obamacare. He still is telling voters that he will repeal the law if elected president in 2016

I think it would be MORE hypocritical if he’s fighting against it, and then sign up for it.

He’s only doing what the rest of us did to avoid Obamacare.
