Today a broad coalition of leading organizations, cultural influencers, community members and activists unveiled Wear Orange (www.wearorange.org), a new campaign that will amplify existing efforts to reduce gun violence in America.
To help honor the 88 Americans whose lives are cut short by gun violence every day and the countless survivors whose lives are forever altered by shootings each year the coalition has designated June 2, 2015 as the first annual National Gun Violence Awareness Day. On this day, campaign partners invite everyone who agrees we can do more to save American lives from gun violence to do one simple thing: Wear Orange.

To my knowledge, my gun(s) have never been violent. Given that, I’m wondering how.if I should celebrate this day.
Hmmm.... it’s on a Tuesday... good day to go to the range - no crowds.
Forehead smack. Will the nba and the mlb pony up some orange arm bands for their players like the pinko shoes etc., the nfl did?
Dear “Stars:”
Please be aware that, due to scheduling conflicts, “Wear Orange for National Gun Violence Awareness Day” is no longer June 2nd. Instead it has been moved to March 17th.
As a lucky convenience, Irish pubs nation-wide just happen to run drink specials on March 17th as well. So show up in Orange at your local Irish pub and quaff a Guinness!
I was actually shot at, while in the woods, while wearing such - nobody got hit, but I cam close to taking the idiot out.
Yea. And after that, we’ll post selfies of ourselves on Facebook, wearing orange and holding hashtag signs. Yep, that will make a difference. And while we’re doing that another half dozen or so inner city “youts” will kill each other. Because, after all, black lives matter, and all that.
It seems like only yesterday a broad coalition of leading organizations, cultural influencers, community members and activists unveiled a Wear Orange protest to express solidarity with the prisoners who are the leading perpetrators of gun violence in America. It’s hard to keep this all straight.
Been there. Done that.
If her attacker had used a .45ACP or a .357 magnum, she would now be worm food and several others would still be just as dead.
Orange jumpsuits would be ok - I don’t know any hunters who wear those. The “hands up don’t shoot” lie emblazoned on those would be perfect. I’m sure ISIS could provide supplier info for them ... they seem to have plenty on hand for the folks they are killing. /sarc
What color is the shirt for HIV day, and what would be on it, since 50,000 still contract it every year.
ISIS will be thrilled. Dressed to kill. Chop!
We should start “Unarmed Victims Awareness Day.”
And these same yahoos want to stop employers from asking about criminal records on job application forms.
How nice -— a bunch of fruits wearing orange.
Those protesting by wearing orange should set an example for the rest of us.
They should throw away their personal firearms and disarm their body guards.
And as a sign of good faith, love and peace and all that hippy rot, permanently open the gates to their property.
Tennessee Orange. Tennesseans can co opt the day as a day for the Volunteers to join and go kill Mexicans.
How many trespassers are residing in stately obama manor in chi town?
“The idea was inspired by a group of Chicago teens who asked their classmates to commemorate the life of a slain friend by wearing orange. They chose the color because hunters wear orange to announce themselves to other hunters when out in the woods.”
I call BS. Chicago teens don’t know anything about hunting. They DO, however, know about what inmates wear.
