McConnell the Anti-Patriot
conservativereview.com ^ | 5/14/15 | Jen Kuznicki

Last week, as a result of a lawsuit filed by the ACLU, a circuit court ruled that bulk data collection on the part of the NSA is illegal. With only a few days left before key provisions of the Patriot Act are set to expire, and at a time when heightened awareness and skepticism of bulk data collection continue to concern Americans, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has positioned himself, and since he is the leader of the Senate, his party as well, against the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution. The problem that McConnell creates is that power-hungry Democrats will be perceived as more concerned about the adherence to the Constitution than are Republicans.

The Hill summarizes and names the positions and players in the upcoming debate:

But McConnell’s stance puts the leadership of the Republican Party, once again, on the wrong side of liberty and at odds with conservatives championing the USA Freedom Act, a bill that would stop bulk collection of metadata that is largely sponsored by Democrats as well as Senators Cruz and Lee. McConnell, it is said, was counting on a full reauthorization of three key elements of the Patriot Act; Section 215, the “lone wolf” provision and the roving wiretap provision. However, the ruling throws a wrench in his plans, though he and establishment Republicans including Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) are downplaying the effects of a court ruling that is not binding.

McConnell and friends want to preserve the NSA so they can preserve their power, and destroy any opponents before they even rise up.

What's all this NSA data collection about?
It's about using the collected metadata to build social networks.

The NSA has been creating maps of American citizens' social networks

Why do they want to do that?
What could social networks be used for in the hands of government? Consider:

Using Metadata to Find Paul Revere

How will such capabilities be used now?
How They Hunt

Is it already too late?...

Not at all.

Just get off social media altogether.

Watch “Turn” and learn how it used to be done.

A network was built then only by people being wise and not by current means by obsessing how many “Friends” or “Likes” they have on their wall.

Unless you tell them, they have no idea what it is you are thinking or, what you are up to. This is the definition of Going Galt.

Social networks is a concept that goes far, far beyond so-called social media. You might want to read up on how social network theory is used, for example, in a military setting to track down terrorists (cf. my links above). It was used to great advantage in Afghanistan, for instance. And they weren’t looking at Facebook likes. You would be stunned at what social network theory, applied to your metadata, can tell you about you. - probably more than you know yourself.

a court ruling that is not binding.

I have never heard of that before. I have heard about non-binding referendums but court cases? Admittedly, Obama treats court cases he doesn’t like as if they were non-binding, but this is official from the court? How much did this pointless case cost the taxpayers?

You missed the point. Without doing it digitally, they have no meta data to work with. If this is all they are employing, then it is very easy to render them, blind.

I have a military history of crypto repair and analysis to the point of being on a team learning all of the new toys from the actual engineers who designed them from inside all of the skunk works that employed them. I would wager that I know far more about the methods they are using than you can even imagine.

Not to seem contrary but I think you miss the point. Metadata encompasses more than just digital info; that's just the easiest to collect. Social networking theory encompasses more than Facebook and Twitter. If you care about this stuff then you should read the links I posted above.

I continue to be dismayed at the number of conservatives who think McConnell is somehow an ally! He is the proverbial wolf in sheep’s clothing. The fact that Kentucky voters elected him again says all that you need to know about Kentucky!

Mitch McConnell...

...poster child for the Stupid Party.

in only 6 1/2 short years of capitulation under Obama, RINOs like McConnell and that oompa-loompa from Ohio have turned my growing disappointment with the republican party into outright disgust.
