The arrival in Seattle Thursday of an oil rig Royal Dutch Shell is outfitting for oil exploration in the remote Arctic Ocean marks a pivotal moment for an environmental movement increasingly mobilized around climate change.

Activists paddling out in kayaks to meet the rig off Seattle's picturesque waterfront said it's their moment to stand against opening a new frontier of fossil fuel exploration.

"Unless people get out there and put themselves on the front lines and say enough is enough, than nothing will ever change," said Jordan Van Voast, 55, an acupuncturist who was going out on the water to confront the Polar Pioneer. "I'm hopeful that people are waking up."

A few people in tiny plastic boats, dwarfed by a 400-foot-long structure rising nearly 300 feet above the water.

Seattle also fines people for disposing of organic waste, outlaws plastic garbage bags, and gives the homeless right of way in all instances. They have a statue of Lenin in Fremont and the cops hand out fritos to dope smokers.

Actually both hands are used to work the double ended paddle of a kayak.

The person using the derogatory term is basically ignorant about the fun and plain old pleasure from a kayak.

Mine looks a lot like the two yellow ones on the left. I take it out twice a week for about an hour and a half or two hours. I paddle just a little more than a mile. I rest a lot and slay the fish with my trusty fly rod.

The kayak is excellent exercise that is absolutely required to keep my type 2 diabetes under control.

On Monday morning I made my 93 kayak voyage

"Unless people get out there and put themselves on the front lines and say enough is enough, than nothing will ever change,"

Something the Leftists know and act on while our side is "way too civilized to partake in such nonsense".

It's a major reason the Left keeps making so many inroads against Freedom - they have the drive and energy and will to physically get out and "in your face".

We prefer to ignore the lessons and concentrate on how stupid we think their causes are....

People like to eat what they are used to. Even though fresh whole chickens from the farm are much tastier, it is an acquired taste. The supermarket chickens are more juicier because they are filled with water but they are not as tasty.

It why some people prefer Wonder Bread to fresh baked homemade bread. It's just what they are used to.
