What Sanders Says Socialism Would Look Like in U.S. If He Won Presidency

Noting that he’s “perhaps the most progressive member of the United States Senate,” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) described today how, as president, he would do socialism in America.

“When we talk about Democratic socialism, I think it is important to realize that there are countries around the world, like Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, who have had social democratic governments on and off for many, many years. And we can learn a whole lot from some of those countries,” the 2016 Democratic presidential contender said on CBS this morning.

“For example, the United States is the only major country on earth that doesn’t guarantee healthcare to all people as a right.

One never has a right to compel the services of another person.

Excellent point! Too many lib's confuse the word "right" with the word "benefit". A right is something you are born with. A benefit is something that you have (ideally) earned.

The American people will always fall for such foolish promises.

"Sooner or later you run out of other people’s money.”

This is something that even Republican primary voters have trouble deciphering.

It seems to me that Bernie's also saying if he were elected President , he'd continue Obama’s new American dictatorship since he, as President, wouldn't have the power to implement Socialism under a Constitutional Republic. Then again, Congress and the Senate are useless nowadays and the Supreme Court has become judicial activism central, as well.

“Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, who have had social democratic governments on and off for many, many years.”

Those countries don’t have a massive illegal immigration problem, they don’t have a deeply corrupt government on their southern border (or in their capital cities), they don’t have massive drug cartels flooding their countries will illegals, drug and gang violence and they get to rely on other countries like the US and the UK for their defense.

And the average house size in most of these countries is less than 1000 square feet. Income taxes approach or even exceed 50%.

The effective taxation rate in Sweden is commonly cited as among the highest in the world

For example, the United States is the only major country on earth that doesn’t guarantee healthcare to all people as a right.

Sheesh! Once again, we find a liberal mistakenly equating health CARE with health INSURANCE! Perhaps Ol' Bernie should acquaint himself with the Federal Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (1986) which requires the vast majority of emergency rooms to treat anyone needing emergency health care.

Of course, the law has been corrupted so that people, including illegals, who choose not to carry insurance now game the system by flooding emergency rooms with nothing more than a case of the sniffles.

The leftists in US government want european style socialism implimented, those aligned with the right want the US to emulate mexico’s socialist/oligarchy type system. The business sector wants to emulate the chinese model of fascism/communism.

For all three groups, the goal is to gain total control over the other two, and make that control complete and permanent.

If you read Mark Steyn's "America Alone" nobody might want to move to Europe. Many of those "wonderful" socialist countries have negative birth rates while the Muslims they import breed like rabbits. And don't assimilate.

Unless they have some sort of people's revolt, the future of many those western European countries looks pretty dire.

Hitler laid out everything he intended to do as well. Churchill was one of the few who read his literature and paid attention to his speeches. And Churchill was ignored until it was too late.

"Norway"

There was a guy I used to work with who was a world traveler. I asked him one time what country he'd like to live in when he retired. He said Norway.

I asked him why, and he said because the gov. does so much for their citizens. I asked him then if that's where he was going to live when he retired. He said no. I said why is that, I thought Norway was the greatest country in the world? He said because the cost of living is too high.

I asked why he thought it was so great then. Then with a little irritation he repeated because the gov. does so much for the citizen.

I then said well why not move there? He looked at me with disgust, and walked away.

It's pretty clear that Trotsky's "international socialism" fails catastrophically, because the diversity involved creates oppression of one group to benefit another.

It's not so clear that "socialism in one country" fails IF the country is ethnically homogeneous, such that (for example) paying taxes to the NHS benefits what are in effect your cousins.

The NHS was EXTREMELY popular with the British people. It's popularity is declining as immigration is rising, which is what you would expect.

Most of the "right-wing" parties in Europe are openly socialist, proposing a "socialism in one country" or, in the case of Generation identitaire or Golden Dawn, a socialism linked to nationality rather than citizen status.

They can't very well call their programs "national socialism", but that's what they are.

Ahem, the Scandahoovian states that Comrade Bernie loves to cite have a tremendous immigration problem & are teeming with unassimilable Muslims whose only contribution is a skyrocketing crime rate & who are a huge drain on the economy.

Right about the high taxation & low home square footage. Saw that in Germany where the apartments seemed designed for midgets.

My last sentence was cut off, but obviously “national socialism” is in no way (other than as a rhetorical device) right wing. I do accept the construction that fascism as developed by Mussolini and the Falange in Spain were right-wing movements, but the NSDAP regime was quite different from either of them. The adoption of “fascism” as a name by the theoreticians of German NS was basically a misappropriation to “Europeanize” their movement.
