The IRS cannot be sure that Americans who lacked health insurance last year have complied with Obamacare’s “individual mandate” penalty this tax season, according to an inspector general report Friday that pointed to a decision to delay proof-of-coverage forms from insurers and employers until 2016.
Agency mangers told the Treasury’s Inspector General for Tax Administration that a “business decision was made to not develop processes and procedures” to ensure compliance after it decided in 2013 to delay the pair of forms. The documents are sent to both filers and the IRS, allowing the federal government to cross-check what filers say on their returns.
“The transition relief was intended to give the insurer time to adapt its health coverage and reporting systems to comply with [Obamacare],” the IG report said. The same was true for employers.
Obamacare’s health exchanges did report 2014 insurance details for its customers on a form known as the 1095-A, although more than 800,000 customers on the federal HealthCare.gov portal received ones with errors.
For non-exchange customers, the 1095-B form from insurers and 1095-C form from employers were delayed for a year.

BTW...there’s an IRS scam going on via robo telephoning nationwide. Tells people the IRS is after them. I got a call and then called our local police about them. They shared there is such a scam currently under investigation across the nation.
I of course, played them well...asked them what IRS and where were they located so I could send money....but I sounded like a senile old lady repeating “Uh” What did you say” I can’t hear you”...which IRS is that again”...
Then I heard someone holler..”Disconnect that phone!”
Course the guy on the phone had an Indian accent.
Effing’ retards. You provided a 1st year exemption’ then you throw a hissy fit that people paid the penalty than pay the same scam every month?

We have a house phone hooked up to a magic jack in our office. We never answer it and let it hit voicemail. Got one the other day with a computer generated Scottish accent from the Treasury Dept. We needed to have our attorney call them immediately!

I have voice mail but wanted the calls to stop for I was getting them all day.
Sometimes these folks are relentless....
As the police told me...if the IRS wants to contact you it will not be by phone.
I’m on the do not call list as well but these people get thru somehow.
You need to look into call blocker for your phone.
Whether you have insurance or not is “self-reporting” with no way to verify.
Maybe they can stop pissing the 22 trillion dollars in wealth transfers and stop the bleeding...
but they won’t.
