Republicans have been doing this for the last three election cycles. Put so many names out there, that the confusion will guarantee that some RINO will be anointed.
George isn’t as bad as Rino’s go...but he stayed on too long and lost his edge;he needed to try for the presidency a few cycles ago...(I lived in NYS for most of his “reign”/s). He is still too soft liberal on social policies but I would vote him over Jeb Bush!...Don’t forget Liberal NYS voted for him 3 times...so he may do well in the primaries. He may well be a “dark horse” that could cause a lot of surprises!
He was a REPUBLICAN RINO governor elected in a leftist state of NY from 1995 to 2006! (yeah still a s—thole...probably the nexus of the NE)! Still a better vote than for Jeb!
The problem I have with many Republican politicians is that they all want to run for POTUS. Doesn’t matter if it’s a person like Dr. Carson who has never run for any other office prior to this. Or defeated US Senate candidates like Carly Fiorina or Rick Santorum, who, after they lost their senate races moved to the Washington beltway. I’m not wild about Marco Rubio and Rand Paul giving up what would otherwise be safe US Senate seats to run for POTUS. Both are young and first termers. One could say that of Ted Cruz too, but at least he isn’t up for re-election this year. I think Huckabee should return to his gig on FNC, his presidential campaign is going no where. I am currently paying close attention to the governors. I especially like Scott Walker. He has won two terms as well as special election and turned WI into a right to work state, no easy feat in a state as blue and liberal as that.
George started off well, very well. But then by the end was cutting deals with unions to expand spending and benefits to stay in power. I give the Devil his due though — he was the last Republican to dominate NY politics on the scale that he did, no small achievement in a Dem-dominated state.
It’s insanity. Cruz and Walker are the two viable options that I see.
Graham? Pataki? Bush? Fiorina? well, she could be attack dog as a woman who gets to say what the guys cant. Carson? Christie? what gives?
Let’s write in Thurman while we’re at it.
He won’t be my first choice of candidates in the primaries...but point a gun at me to choose between Bush or Pataki and I’d pull for Pataki!
And when you have this many candidates running, the early debates will have little or no impact because there will be so little time for them to present their cases.
All it will do is provide fodder for the Democrats to use. That's why I think intra-party debates are a stupid idea.
The more moderate candidates in the race, the better...they split up that share of the vote.
If Pataki were on the ticket, instead of the GOP losing New York by two million votes, they could narrow their losses and lose by a million and a half votes.
The chances of the Republican nominee carrying any electoral votes in the states north of Virginia in the Northeast are virtually nil, with the possible exception of New Hampshire. It won't make any difference if someone from one of those states is on the ballot.

Pataki should run as a Democrat. He’s more in line with their party, and they are looking for a viable alternative to Hillary. He’s not bad as a centrist Dem. Is he pro choice? That’s a litmus test over there.
Based on polling it looks like: Jeb, Walker, Rubio, Rand and Cruz have some shot at this point. All our in double digits in most polls. Jeb is very weak in Iowa. Rand may have peaked too early and doesn’t seem to be quite where the top three are. Cruz is in the first tier, but at the bottom.
I was being sarcastic. I lived in NJ while he was NY’s RINO governator, so I saw plenty of his mug on TV.
