A couple in Florida attracted quite a bit of attention last summer, when a video of them having the often-cliched “sex on the beach” made its way to YouTube for all to see.
A description of the explicit video was provided by WFLA:
The couple didn’t hold back.
Bold and brazen with their bodies, they were grinding in full view. Bradenton Beach Police were called, and the couple was eventually arrested.
The indecent encounter was captured by a sunbathing great-grandmother on her iPhone. There are claims even a three-year-old saw the couple.
On Monday, the couple appeared before a judge. TIME reports:
Jose Caballero, 40, and Elissa Alvarez, 20, were convicted of two counts each of lewd and lascivious behavior for having sex on Bradenton Beach in 2014. The jury took only 15 minutes to reach a verdict.
As part of their sentence, the pair faces up to 15 years in prison each. Attorney for the couple Ronald Kurpiers told TIME:
“’It’s a horrifically harsh potential penalty for what they’re alleged to have done and that’s really the rub here,’ he said.”

Arresting officer Eric Hill from Bradenton Beach commented:
“This isn’t an after-hours disco that people can use for a garbage can. This is the root of family.”
Resident Ray Schmitz agrees:
“It’s ridiculous, it shouldn’t happen, there’s a time and place for everything, not for on the beach. I’m proud of our law enforcement for stopping this!”
While a date for sentencing has yet to be determined, the couple must also become registered sex offenders.

Meanwhile, Jon Corzine steals $1.6 billion dollars of customer segregated funds and hasn’t yet been detained for questioning, four years after the fact.
They were having sex on a beach in the middle of the day with families and kids around. This was NOT appropriate by any stretch. And not only will they be facing prison, they also have to register as sex offenders!
I am appalled at their act, but I do think 15 years in prison is WAY over the top.
Maybe community service and fines, and/or 30 days in jail.

The complete lack of decency and respect for others around you is going too far. I’m glad this has been treated so seriously. We were at a public beach a couple years ago and my husband had to tell a couple that rolled into our area to knock it off. It is totally obscene and ridiculous.
15 years is ridiculous. On the other hand the couple were clearly thumbing their nose at society and the law. I’d probably give them a year and suspend it on condition of good behavior. They are going to have felony criminal records because of this. That’s harsh enough assuming we are not talking about a recidivist here.
It’s the folks who are advocates of these pervs that are out of touch.
Back when we hanged murderers and rapists, the sentence would have been about the same I’d say.

How about 100 hours of community service FULLY CLOTHED, and some education. I’d bet their IQ combined doesn’t breach 100.

Oh I totally agree not appropriate on ANY level. But suspended time at worst, a find, a lot of community service etc. And being registered as a sex offender is absurd. That is NOT why those laws were originally passed. They were passed to mark rapists, pedophiles, etc.
Any sentence worse than the above is ridiculous. Lord knows I’d offer that in a plea deal as would have any Prosecutor in my office.

A large fine for both of them as well as some community service (mowing lawns and picking up roadside garbage in the hot summer sun) should cure them of the desire to have public sex.
Or maybe make them walk the beach and pick up all the used condoms.......
