NEW YORK (AP) - A 25-year-old police officer shot in the head over the weekend while attempting to stop a man suspected of carrying a handgun died Monday from his injuries, the third New York City officer slain on duty in five months, Police Commissioner William Bratton said.
Brian Moore, who was in a coma after undergoing brain surgery following the Saturday evening shooting, was pronounced dead at a Queens hospital with his family at his bedside, including a father, uncle and cousin who were police officers.
Dozens of uniformed officers stood at attention outside the medical center and lined up down the block to salute the ambulance carrying his body out.

From ancient times, people saved themselves and their families from certain death by escaping with only the clothes on their backs.
If people value their lives and families more than their jobs and property, they will act to save what they love most. If that love is for their material things, so be it.

A total of 1,466 law enforcement officers died in the line of duty during the past 10 years, an average of one death every 60 hours or 146 per year. There were 117 law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty in 2014.
Moore and his partner were in plainclothes and in an unmarked police car when they approached Demetrius Blackwell in a quiet Queens neighborhood after they saw him adjusting his waistband, a move that made them suspicious he had a handgun, authorities said.Maybe it's just me, but I have a problem with the officers' actions (lackthereof)...as reported anyway.The officers pulled up next to Blackwell, 35, and exchanged words before the man suddenly turned, pulled out a weapon and fired at least twice at them, striking Moore in the head and face, according to court documents.

Why are you being so argumentative? Of course anywhere there are large populations of blacks there is the possibility of a riot. But to urge the police to abandon NYC and leave the people in the entire city unprotected from the vermin is borderline criminal.
I made a simple point. Whats argumentative? I asked you a question. You seem to think I’m overstating the case, yet Baltimore pretty much shows I’m not.

If they did the remaining capital in the city would flee; northern NJ benefited a lot from David Dinkins’ administration (when we added such words to our vocabulary as “wilding” - robbing and raping in Central Park at night - and “whirlpooling” - where young black boys would swim circles around a girl and then start sexually molesting her).

I think the “black leaders” are screaming it every day; they know what is happening, and why they are silent when innocent cops are killed by their foot soldiers.

This is exactly the sort of proactive policing that the Mahdi and the Holder DOJ wants to make impossible. Yes it is targeted at specific members of certain groups. Black men are the perpetrators of almost all the crimes of violence in large ares of many cities. There are specif actions and tics that reveal that individual blackamoors are likely carrying weapons and bent on criminal actions. These individuals simply rove around ‘looking to be lookin’ to see in an opportunity to rob or steal presents itself. The police know this and deliberately look for their profiled individuals to do something suspicious. Is it biased? Yes it is. Police target those who appear to be likely malefactors. Youngish black men fit that profile. Blackamoors know this is true. They just want the heat to be taken off their ‘brothers’ while they whine about ‘inadequate police protection’. People often want mutually incompatible things. Blacks just get a pass from the political culture to whine continually about everything.
