It turns out that one of the most immediate impacts of global warming may be the loss of large herbivores.

Renowned professor William Ripple, of the College of Forestry with the Oregon Sate University, led a team of global wildlife ecologists to conduct an inclusive study researching data on the largest herbivores to walk our planet today.

In response to the study, he says, “I expected that habitat change would be the main factor causing the endangerment of large herbivores. But surprisingly, the results show that the two main factors in herbivore declines are hunting by humans and habitat change. They are twin threats.”

Ripple goes on to say, “Our analysis shows that it goes well beyond forest landscapes, to savannahs and grasslands and deserts. So we coin a new term, the empty landscape.”

The world won’t let large herbivores go extinct. They may become mere zoo denizens; their genetic variability may become unhealthily narrow. But they will survive.

Bill Ripple. Reminds me of Fred Sanford mixing Ripple and Champagne. Calls it “champipple”.

For those who have such a steadfast belief in evolution they certainly want to put a stop to it.

More like wolf reintroduction. Elk herds are in trouble in many places thanks to the Sierra Club wackos protecting predators who are way past any endangered status.

Specious predictions based upon altered readings based upon models based upon fiddled-with data which do not account for the earth’s precession nor sunspots. Who could doubt such insight? Obviously, more grant money is needed.

Because in the past, when the Earth was much warmer, there were no large herbivores?
