Depending on whom you ask, “Jade Helm 15” is either a domestic military training exercise or a covert operation for the federal government to take over the state of Texas – and 2016 presidential candidate Ted Cruz just became the latest Republican to fan the flames of the latter theory.
Speaking at the South Carolina Republican Party’s annual convention Saturday, the Texas senator told Bloomberg’s David Weigel that his office had contacted the Pentagon about the exercise, which officially consists of a series of training drills throughout the Southwest for about 1,200 special operations personnel, including Green Berets and Navy SEALs. Conspiracy theorists operating on the fringes of the conservative blogosphere, however, have other ideas about what the exercise, known as Jade Helm 15, is intended to do – such as implement martial law, seize Americans’ guns, and imprison political dissidents.
Rather than squash those theories outright, Cruz apparently decided it was better to be safe than sorry.
“My office has reached out to the Pentagon to inquire about this exercise,” he said. “We are assured it is a military training exercise. I have no reason to doubt those assurances, but I understand the reason for concern and uncertainty, because when the federal government has not demonstrated itself to be trustworthy in this administration, the natural consequence is that many citizens don’t trust what it is saying.”(continued)

The effects of media programs designed to induce panic emphasize the mayhem for a couple of reasons:

...and the perception of mayhem makes the masses maleable. Few will stop to think that maybe a few thousand blacks rioted in Baltimore (maybe fewer than a thousand) out of a population of 622,000 people, of which 385,000, roughly, are black. If three thousand rioted and looted, that's still less than 1% of the black population of Baltimore, yet people are ready to nuke the place from orbit based on the media meme.
When the time comes, camera angles, media accounts, looped tape, and other dirty tricks will be able to have the American People (sheeple) ready to live in irons to be "SAFE", even though they'll be throwing away their liberties (or demanding others do) based on the illusion of uncontrollable mayhem.
They know about it and don’t seem concerned at all. IMO, they are being paid well for it. I know personally the County Judge knows about it. When asked he just said it’s for military training. What kind of military training? He didn’t know.

And the assault weapon ban gave us Printz v US, which reinforced previous USSC decisions that allows county sheriffs and states to tell the federal gestapo government to get lost.
It also gave us state legislatures passing laws that tell state bureaucrats that they may not cooperate with federal gestapo agents. For those who don’t know, the federal gestapo cannot operate in states without help from the states. The next step is to hinder the movement of the federal gestapo into states via state laws and armed muscle via county sheriffs.
As for the militia movement, it’s a good thing to rein in these freelancers. Some are loose cannons and hotheads who refuse to submit to command structure (see Bundy Ranch).
There are 26 states with state guards - I’m not talking about state national guards - where those so inclined to volunteer their services as militia can join state guard units with military structures and commands.
For example, South Carolina has three battalions, originally organized in 1776 to meet the British attack against Charleston Harbor.

Obama has succeeded with his plans because of the support of the progressive left and the “trust” of moderates who refuse to see the evil he is.
With only 1200 as you state, you could sure do some selective “hand picked” choices as to who will be conducting this exercise.
Sadly, I have a nephew who served in the Army during late Clinton years and loves Obama. He is not in service now, but I have no doubt he would do as he was told if Obama were his CIC.
FT Irwin in Calif... they are building up resources tremendously there. I do remember they had a mock drill at March AFB when my daughter was in college - approximately 2004. They invited people to participate. It was all done on the base area using the old housing.
This “exercise” is not just in Texas... it encompasses the entire southwestern US.
