Ted Cruz ‘reached out to the Pentagon’ about martial law conspiracy theory
MSNBC ^ | May 2, 2015 | Emma Margolin

Depending on whom you ask, “Jade Helm 15” is either a domestic military training exercise or a covert operation for the federal government to take over the state of Texas – and 2016 presidential candidate Ted Cruz just became the latest Republican to fan the flames of the latter theory.

Speaking at the South Carolina Republican Party’s annual convention Saturday, the Texas senator told Bloomberg’s David Weigel that his office had contacted the Pentagon about the exercise, which officially consists of a series of training drills throughout the Southwest for about 1,200 special operations personnel, including Green Berets and Navy SEALs. Conspiracy theorists operating on the fringes of the conservative blogosphere, however, have other ideas about what the exercise, known as Jade Helm 15, is intended to do – such as implement martial law, seize Americans’ guns, and imprison political dissidents.

Rather than squash those theories outright, Cruz apparently decided it was better to be safe than sorry.

“My office has reached out to the Pentagon to inquire about this exercise,” he said. “We are assured it is a military training exercise. I have no reason to doubt those assurances, but I understand the reason for concern and uncertainty, because when the federal government has not demonstrated itself to be trustworthy in this administration, the natural consequence is that many citizens don’t trust what it is saying.”(continued)

Our nation has drifted so far to the left that it will take a good “true” conservative president to just get back to center in this country.

We’ve drifted so far from our constitutional roots that when Ted Cruz speaks of constitutional values...they call him a radical, zealot, right wing extremist.

Go Ted go.

The guys carrying out the operation wont have a clue what’s going on, they will simply believe the locals have been informed and it’s a normal training exercise and the locals are part of the exercise.

Following Clinton’s lead in the 1990s, someone higher up will make an “honest mistake” and they will be dropping down where no one has been informed of a military training exercise and the locals wont have the slightest clue what is going on.

Texas remembers Clinton.

Because I am sure YOU went to the WaR college.

Please educate us as to the purpose and history of this exercise.

Of course you won’t because you present no argument, logic, or discussion. You make sniping comments about other posters, but present no thoughts or assessments.

So, once again, I implore you to educate us all with some facts based on events or historical truth.

When you have the furthest right site on the web filled with posters sounding like DU posters, and with impunity, I don’t think anyone can right this mess. Because if it’s like that here, and it obviously is, then imagine how far gone the ‘average voter’ is.

I grew up with B52s flying over my house. Uniformed men all over my town. And pilots wives for teachers.

It’s going to take more than that ....let’s hope God will move the minds and hearts of the people because they sure do swallow the kool-aid and then ask for more.

We already gave you 3 solid examples of that truth and you ignored it. Assuming you actually WERE an officer, or are, someone should court martial your past instructors as they did a piss poor job educating you in American history.

Hasn’t there been expressed concern about a possible attack on Fort Bliss in Texas...a U.S. military base near the Mexican border. I was hoping Jade Helm was being put in place to safeguard Fort Bliss and to make sure the entire border wasn’t attacked by ISIS or the like...but 1200 men are a piddly amount for such a long exposed border, and certainly surely the military wouldn’t advertise the fact they were coming and spell out the dates. It’s a riddle and hopefully we’ll know more about it after the fact at least.

Your analysis is very short sighted. Let’s take a look:

1) He’s a senator, so if he believes it’s based on inside knowledge.

2) He’s asking the questions his constituents want him to ask, so he’s doing his job not pandering.

3) If you think Cruz is an idiot you need to redo your education all over again, starting in grade school.

Fedgov owns 1/3 of US land. Majority of it out west. Why is private land/townships involved?

Yes, and there was mentioned a known Isis camp just across the way which nobody seemed too concerned with.
Almost as if the current resident in the whitehouse wants something to happen.

Don’t you think he could had an aide do five minutes of research and come to the conclusion it’s all BS?

It’s not like any of this is news. Even here, we’ve been reading about this since last fall (and even further back.)

It’s not like they made deals with private landowners last week.

I think the fact that he made a big deal out of it indicates a level of pandering that is clear to me.

“I just believe that folks are looking for a reason to lash out.”

No, here in Texas we remember the last dem president, B Clinton, and not only what was done in Waco but also the military exercises where none of the locals, including law enforcement, were informed before military personnel came dropping in on them during the middle of the night.

Surely Officer War College here can answer that rather simple question. But considering he doesn’t even know middle eastern terrain very will I sort doubt he can.

I subscribe to the notion that the government is aware of a pending natural disaster and is positioning to pick up the pieces afterwards.

It makes sense that they would keep something like this hidden if there is nothing anyone can do about it.

Most likely an asteroid headed our way.

How did Cruz make a big deal of it?

MSNBC is simply trying to make him look bad. As usual.
