California sets tough new targets to cut emissions (MoonBeam goes off the deep end .. officially)
BBC News ^ | 4/29/15 | BBC

Governor Jerry Brown issued an executive order to bring down emissions to 40% below 1990 levels, in the next 15 years.

The US state was already one of the most ambitious in its previous targets and has forced companies to pay for their carbon pollution.

Mr Brown said the new target must be met for the sake of future generations.

He called the plan "the most aggressive benchmark enacted by any government in North America to reduce dangerous carbon emissions".

There were few details about how he intends to meet this target, but the governor has previously talked about increasing renewable electricity sources, reducing petrol use in vehicles and improving the energy efficiency of existing buildings.

Mr Brown mentioned by name some sectors that will have to reduce emissions - industry, agriculture and energy, plus state and local governments.

"With this order, California sets a very high bar for itself and other states and nations, but it's one that must be reached - for this generation and generations to come,'' he said in a statement.

California is the second-biggest producer of carbon dioxide through fossil fuels among US states. The Sequoia National Park is usually snow-covered in April

Seriously, aren't there historical indian accounts of 'smog' in the LA area back before the white man showed up with his horseless carriages?

Its kinda a natural phenomena around there.

Let’s face it. California is doomed as long as there is a Democrat in the State House and a Democrat-controlled legislature.

The only reason tens of thousands of farmer workers are out of work is because Brown and his cronies took away the needed water for the San Juaquin Valley for use by the big cities (who produce a lot of pollution, mental, chemical and ideological).

The Gov will drive more businesses out of state, thus increasing unemployment. However, he won’t tax the carbon emissions from marijuana smokers who pollute everything and every place.

He also doesn’t admit that you need CO2 in order to help plants grow, who then turn CO2 into H and 0, often as H20. Both elements help form RAIN CLOUDS which help the farmers and fishermen, etc.

If there ever was a “State of Insanity”, it is California. I keep hoping that the movie industry of the left goes broke, which would then free us from verbal and visual pollution, as well as moral and intellectual pollution.

A beautiful state but so full of psychos, wackjobs, intellectual frauds, corrupt and Marxist politicians, hate-America teachers, leftist newspapers, diseases, illegals, and welfare slaves, that it is probably beyond saving, at least for the next generation or two.

Best to leave if possible. Let it go bankrupt. Let the San Andreas Fault do its’ thing, joined by a nasty Mendocino Fault.

Unless and until conservatives can come with a Reaganesque political figure, doing anything about the fiscal, ideological, and mental dsyfunctioning of this state will come to naught.

Perhaps it is better to let the patient die rather than let it spread its Marxist venom and scientific idiocy around the country.

Save a few Giant Sequoias and move them to another state. Otherwise, let ‘er drop into the ocean. Now that the prime crook of Nevada is out of office, I may invest in waterfront property there.

What's the difference between Moonbeam and aRnie? not much..

Not true! Moonbeam never once denied being a liberal. Where will all the illegals work once moonbeam and his gaia worshipping eco nazis drive the rest of the industries out of California? No matter how many fast food restaurants and taquerias there are, it won't matter if no one has the money to buy $5 burgers and $4 tacos with $15 minimum wage and 75% unemployment.

Actually all dems are nuts. ALL. It’s sorta part of being a Dem to begin with. Because if anyone can present evidence that people spouting dem ideology for the last 160 years aren’t insane, I wanna hear how.

Moonbeam has never been the governor everybody loves.
Instead, he is the principal everybody hates.
If the low infos actually went to school they would
know this.

I am Governor Jerry Brown
My aura smiles and never frowns
Soon I will be President

Carter power will soon go away
I will be fuhrer one day
I will command all of you
Your kids will meditate in school
Your kids will meditate in school

California Uber Alles
California Uber Alles
Uber Alles California
Uber Alles California

Zen fascists will control you 100% natural
You will jog for the master race
And always wear the happy face
Close your eyes, can’t happen here

Big Bro’ on the white horse is near
The hippies won’t come back, you say
Mellow out or you will pay
Mellow out or you will pay

California Uber Alles
California Uber Alles
Uber Alles California
Uber Alles California

Now it is 1984
Knock, knock at your front door
It’s the suede-denim secret police
They have come for your uncool niece

Come quietly to the camp
You’d look nice as a drawstring lamp
Don’t you worry, it’s only a shower
For your clothes, here’s a pretty flower

Die on organic poison gas
Serpent’s egg’s already hatched
You will croak, you little clown
When you mess with President Brown

California is in big trouble now. Their past 40 years of enviro-whackism has caused the “greatest drought ever recorded” (their words), giant bird fryers, giant wind generators that only run part time, bait fish that are lavished with fresh water that ends up in the ocean, ski resorts without snow, etc.

All of this was caused by enviro-fools who do not understand or appreciate the “law of unintended consequences”.

Apparently California’s climate and the rest of the world’s climate neatly disconnect all around California’s border such that all of the extremely costly “carbon reduction” endeavors negatively impacting California energy costs for families and industries will stop global warming in California, even though the rest of the world, particularly China and India are doing jack-squat to decrease their carbon outputs, which would otherwise completely negate the puny (but extremely expensive) carbon reduction California is attempting IF such a climate disconnect didn’t exist.

In other words, if such a climate disconnect between California and the rest of the world didn’t exist, California’s actions would be completely insane.

"Its kinda a natural phenomena around there"

In modern times, it is being driven by the California Environmental Quality Act, which was signed into law by Ronnie Raygun in 1970. Because CA preceded the feds in regulating air quality, CA is the only state that can set higher standards than the feds.

I have some first hand experience with "smog" regs in the LA area, from those days. I worked in an industry that emitted a lot of VOCs, which react with NOx, in the presence of sunlight(photochemical), to create smog/ozone.

As for CO2, there was a temporary dispute between GW Bush and CA as to whether or not CA had the authority to set higher standards than the feds on CO2 since CO2 was not a traditional pollutant.

Moonbeam can go screw a knothole in a redwood as far as I am concerned.

KKKalifornia is dying because of their emissions cutting. They are the most polluted state in the country and every time they do this it gets worse.

Ever see a movie where they blow things up? The movie stunts burn tons of raw gasoline for "pyrotechnics"...belching billowing clouds of black smoke. They do this practically every day.

But they blame and penalize the poor schlubs driving to work every day.

Its not really all that much off the deep end. If enough Californians die of thirst the emission standards will be easily met ... :))
