The Orioles and White Sox will play in front of an empty stadium
SB Nation ^ | April 28k 2015 | Grant Brisbee

n Monday and Tuesday, games between the Baltimore Orioles and Chicago White Sox at Camden Yards were cancelled due to safety concerns related to protests and civil unrest in Baltimore. Because of a lack of common off days among teams in the typical Major League Baseball schedule, additional cancellations would have been nearly impossible to make up, but the solution is still stunning: Wednesday's game will be played in front of an empty stadium. From an Orioles press release:

After consultation with Major League Baseball and city and local officials, tomorrow's game between the Orioles and the Chicago White Sox will begin at 2:05 p.m. ET and will be closed to the general public.

Spectacularly, the people of Baltimore sunk $210 million into the stadium where the Orioles are going to play by themselves.

Dear ‘activists’ - think how many homes and businesses could have been built with that money.

And members of the state national guard, just think about all the confidence the team is showing in you! Baltimore Police, you’ve been dealing with their puke for years, but they certainly have your back by locking the gates because they don’t believe in you.

Oh, and someone needs to find out what city officials were in on this conversation and put up posters: This person thinks you’re not good enough to attend a baseball game in a stadium you paid for. Remember them come the next election.

They are also moving the Orioles weekend series of May 1-3 against Tampa Bay to Tropicana Field. Not sure what happens after that, but hopefully Baltimore will have settled down by the next time the Orioles are scheduled to be at home.

But, I do wonder what Orioles attendance will be like when they return. Will big numbers of fans be afraid to go into Baltimore City to see a game, especially a night game???

Amen! This isn’t the change a lot of liberal white folk were hoping for, but here it is, the very best Democrats have to offer for our future.

This time of year the stadiums are dang near empty anyway.

Oh I don't know about that. They had more than 30,000 in a snowstorm in Detroit last week.

I hope every fan treats the team to empty stands for the rest of the season as a thank you for being locked out.

the democrats will claim it ended in a tie? due to racism?

No. The White Sox will not be allowed to win due to their rasis name.

More “evolving” from the progressive elite/disenfranchised minority coalition that controls our once great nation.

National sporting events devoid of spectators due to chaos and and incompetence. Just more negative fall out from decades of uncontrolled white privilege.

When we finally get control of the white privilege thing, maybe we can go to a ball game in peace.

The White Sox broadcasters are so bad
it would be a wonder if more than a couple
of dozen fans experienced the game in any
form.

Would it not make more sense to play INSIDE the empty stadium?
