(Newser) – Felony charges have been filed more than two years after the horrific death of a worker at a California tuna plant. Bumble Bee Foods and two of its employees have been charged with willfully violating safety rules in the death of 62-year-old Jose Melena, who was cooked to death inside an industrial oven at the company's Santa Fe Springs plant, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Sort of reminiscent of the opening of an epi of “Six Feet Under”. Cleaning guy started to get mixed in a huge Hobart mixer. Ended up in chunks, rather than creamed. Dead is dead, though.

Reminds me of my uncle who drowned in a vat of beer at the brewery where he worked. After he fell into the vat no one could figure out why he drowned as he climbed out three times to use the bathroom.

I heard he got “canned” from his last job too,
at least he didn’t go to work “fried”.

Yes it is too horrible.

And this is the result of having ignorant illegals with less then 3rd grade educations running complex machinery in the United States.

Note the ethnicity of all the names in this disgusting story.

And this is the reality of the workplace in much of California now. Employers love these guys because they pay no attention to any safety rules, they just push in without thinking and don’t slow down.

We have them on our roads as well. Most of the independent heavy trucks here are Mexican, and they drive like they do in Mexico: aggressively and recklessly. Get in their way? They speed up, honk their horns and try to use their size to intimidate other cars.

It’s a game they play in Mexico, now in the U.S., where they find easy prey.

Hope the guys who did this and the company get convicted and fined millions.

My friend Gil worked there too. He’s a reel jerk, but will play some mean scales on his bass if you slip him a fin.

When I was in the Air Force there was a guy who ignored one of those. He powered up one of the radar systems with a guy inside. The guy made it out without getting fried but did get quite a dose.

The guy who powered it up almost didn’t survive though.
