Georgetown University demands College Republicans edit video showing angry feminist protesters
Washington Examiner ^ | April 27, 2015 | 6:11 pm | By Ashe Schow

The controversy over scholar Christina Hoff Sommers' lecture at Georgetown University last week is not over.

Lauren Gagliardi, the school's assistant director for the center for student engagement, emailed two members of the College Republicans to request they edit the video to remove students who did not agree to be videotaped.

In the email, provided to the Washington Examiner, Gagliardi tells the students that the "edited version needs to be released without students who did not give permission to be taped." She also says that if the Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute, which sponsored the event, is "unwilling or unresponsive to the request, Georgetown will need to step in."

The video that has Gagliardi so upset features feminist activists holding up signs accusing Hoff Sommers of being an anti-feminist or deny rape.

“... did not agree to be videotaped.”

Evidently the administrators at Georgetown either have never hear of the Streisand Effect, or don’t believe in it. This demand will ensure many more people see Georgetown’s feminist students beclowning themselves than would otherwise have been the case.

I guess the idiots that made fools of themselves don’t want the world to know who they are.

To bad.I wouldn’t edit a damned thing.

Yes. The "demand" is without legal validity or force, which is why it was issued to a student group, rather than to the institute that sponsored the event which provided the cameras.

Public meeting? If so, too bad. Even so, if the video is already out, a little bit late to apply censorship.

Too bad. No censorship. Post it on You Tube and social media. Let it go viral. also identify the protesters by name so they become known when future employers do web search background checks.

If they were demonstrating in a public place (and what would be the purpose of an un-public "demonstration?"), they are not entitled to any claim of anonymity.

Tell them to go to hell.

If you are out in public protesting, you have no right to privacy

Let’s see them agree to take down any embarrassing thing they catch a Republican doing, because he didn’t ‘agree to be recorded”

If they're ‘out in public’ they can be photographed... It's the law - no agreement necessary.

If they were in public, they have no expectation of a right to privacy.

I’m pretty sick of Liberals’ irresponsible approach to everything.

They seem to think that they can detach themselves from what comes out of their mouths... AS IF the whole world is just as stupid and irresponsible as THEY are.

Very early in life I learned that I had to take responsibility for what I said and did. Never once in my life did I get a pass on THAT one.

Do you know HOW immature and asinine you have to be to assume that you can say whatever you want then behave as if you didn’t say it?
