Texas Monthly ^ | April 22, 2015 | Dan Solomon

By now, you’ve probably heard of Kristen Lindsey. She’s the veterinarian from Brenham who’s given more bad press to the state than Blue Bell after she posted a picture on Facebook of herself, smiling and holding an arrow with a dead cat on the end of it:

What in the world are you raging about?

What is it about this vet story that is attracting you raving nut cases to rage and rant about whatever nonsense pops into your head?

you’re the one raging and frothing.

but you can have the last word, because otherwise you just wont stop. You just cannot stop, you must have the last word.

so go for it, I’m sure it will be well reasoned and logical. Then again why would you change.

Yeah you’re a conservative alright. /s You must take economics lessons from obama.

Well you put the bottle down for a bit to let some of your silliness fall away, however the embrace of stupid is still strong with you.

I personally think it is cruel as well as inappropriate to keep a wild animal as a pet, except in cases of wildlife facilities, behavioral research, an injured animal, etc-it is not how they were intended to live.

I had always heard that Huskies were notorious cat killers-since I have cats, that would not do-but the AKC had a recommended breeder of Huskies for shows and sled races with dogs that were socialized with cats-so we got our puppy from that breeder.

There were several cats wandering in and out of their house and office and the dogs barely gave them a second glance. My Husky loves cats-plays with them and shares her pet beds with them-she does not chase the neighbor’s cats if they are on the property when she is out with me. I’ve seen videos of other Huskies cuddling with cats, so apparently they are not all predisposed to kill cats. She isn’t fond of other dogs, and small ones look like food-I rescued the aforementioned Yorkie the first time last Winter he got onto the property just as she had grabbed, and was starting to shake him-she had gotten a mouthful of the sweater he was wearing, so he was unhurt...

She is fine with humans, but if she-or one of the cats-refuses to let a human visitor pet them, or the dog moves to stand in front of me, I know full well that is not a person to trust-it always turns out the pets were right. I’ve heard that those smaller Alaskan Huskies are not as stubborn and headstrong as Siberians and are easier to groom-not as much fur-but I’ve always had big dogs.

You are right about the body language in regard to dogs-my neighbors who keep livestock also have huge scary-looking dogs to guard the place-the current dogs du jour are mastiffs and bullmastiffs, and even UPS just drops the packages at the gate if one of those dogs confronts them. When I go by while hiking, they never bother me, and a big gray one just about knocks me down when I visit her owner.

Our customers always take their dogs where they won’t bother me when I’m doing an estimate, or when we are working, which is very considerate, I think.

The only dog I’ve owned that was not on the bad/dangerous list was an Australian Shepherd-the others were German Shepherds and a Chow-one of the former appointed herself guard to my cub from the time the kid was about 3, and she did a fine job of it, too. Everyone who came to our house was terrified of our Chow-he was scary looking and big, but it was all show-he was a sweetheart. Huskies are even on that stupid bad dog list...

I know for a fact that mink and weasels, etc., behave that way. I worked for a milling plant during college, and witnessed two mink enter the milling plant, while the machines were spinning and we were working. The mink worked their way through the plant killing any rat they flushed or caught in the open. We saw them go into rat holes and rats come running out, which were then run down and killed. It was fascinating. Any rat who attempted to make a stand, was quickly overtaken and killed with a bite to the back of the neck. They were one power team!!
