Facebook Is Not Letting the Story of the Vet Who Killed a Cat With a Bow and Arrow Go
Texas Monthly ^ | April 22, 2015 | Dan Solomon

By now, you’ve probably heard of Kristen Lindsey. She’s the veterinarian from Brenham who’s given more bad press to the state than Blue Bell after she posted a picture on Facebook of herself, smiling and holding an arrow with a dead cat on the end of it:

What do joggers have to do with dealing with an unknown loose animal on your own property?

My very own well-mannered Husky still thinks cat crap is dessert-I have my cats’ litter boxes in an alcove reached by a small pet door for that reason. My vet said this is very, very common with dogs-I’m certainly not going to shoot my 3 former shelter cats over it-the pet door was a better solution.

All cats and dogs get fleas from outdoors, especially when there is a wet Spring-that is why there are so many safe, effective flea control products on the market...

I take it you live in a city where people don’t have fenced and gated properties with no trespassing signs-here, you don’t go on other peoples’ property out of respect for them, their large guard dogs, etc. But common courtesy dictates you give them a phone call if you see what might be one of their animals out-I don’t care if it is a horse, goat dog or cat-if you shoot or otherwise hurt it instead, it will not go well at all for you by suppertime, when everyone finds out...

It is their cat and I have been telling them about it for more than a year. They don’t want to control the problem.

I am really fed up with having to shampoo the carpet and clean the boat seats over and over again because the neighbor will not control his pet. It is very difficult to get rid of that smell.

Sometimes people are killed by a single dog, and even completely domesticated pet dogs kill people in the owner’s home, in some kind of dog frenzy, and anyone with a brain fears dog packs.

I used to work the black neighborhoods in Dallas, and would still be doing door to door sales after dark, there I learned about the danger of city dog packs, not fully wild, but dangerous and not under anyone’s control, even though some, most, or all, had some form of ownership.

I talked to some of the people about it and they were very clear that it was a real local danger after dark, especially for the children.

Joggers go armed, because of dogs, not pet cats, or even feral cats.

It is silly to compare loose dogs with loose cats.

There are electric catproofing mats that might serve if you want something humane, and not just putting rat traps in your boat.

But, send them the bill for them too.

They are YOUR OWN CATS. YOU HAVE THE RESPONSIBILITY TO PUT THEIR CAT CRAP WHERE YOUR DOG CAN’T GET IT IF HE LIKES TO EAT IT! People who let their animals roam have no regard for other people or their property.

We have 5 acres, completely fenced. Fences don’t keep cats out. And, as I posted previously, in a couple of cases haven’t kept a local beagle and her sidekick out. I kenneled them until their owner could come get them because I knew who they belonged to.

I treat my dogs monthly for fleas. We spend a lot of money to treat the property for fleas. I don’t want cats or other stray animals spreading their filth on our property that we work hard to maintain. Why is it so much to ask that people keep their own animals on their own property?

Because YOU are implying that she knew the cat, knew who owned the cat and killed it anyway because she’s nuts. And maybe that is the truth. Or maybe my explanation for what she did is the truth. Or maybe it’s neither. Your explanation, at worst, makes her a jerk.

Actually no I haven't, but have you watched the video of what everyone thinks is Tiger and it's owners?

With all this fuss, someone ought to check with Tiger’s owners to see if it really was Tiger. Some facts might alter the picture.

You wouldn’t mind if I let my dogs crap in your yard once a week or so then. I could keep them on my own property, but why should I be bothered. Your yard is yard just like mine.

Did you read post 146?

Most or all pet cats are treated for fleas, and I assume that all cat care groups treat the cats for fleas.

Yes, I have watched it. So what? If they are the owners they got their cat killed by not Taki g the responsibility of keeping it on their own property.

I’ve tried the repellant by Ortho and it didn’t help. What kind of mats are you referring too? I would be interested in trying it if you believe it would work. I would prefer that to taking it for a long car ride up the mountain.

BTW, I have never mistreated an animal. Just wanted to be clear on that.

I’m finding it very difficult to not call you an idiot for thinking the feral cats around my rural property, or most feral cats, are treated for fleas.

Did you see my previous post about being able to see fleas jumping on you walking through the parking lot where my office was? That was in downtown Orlando.

Dogs running loose is a threat to life and pets.

They can be seriously dangerous.

Please don’t pretend to be oblivious to the difference between cats and dogs and being kept in yards, the dog pet door releases the dog into the yard, the cat pet door releases it to the outside.

In many fine neighborhoods the cats move freely from indoor and outdoor, that is absolutely common in beach communities.

Google for ScatMat and similar items. I’ve never tried it, but it sounds like it would make a surface unwelcoming for a cat.

Another answer might be to keep a dog under there (maybe only for a week or so).

It was still disturbing enough to have a veterinarian do it that she got duct taped out of the practice. They should be experts at dealing with pet owners for better pet care, not killing pets.

What about the neighbors who don't want someone else's cat in their yard? What rights do they have?

An idiot would be you continuing to make things up.

I never mentioned your own unique situation, I posted this to you """Did you read post 146?
