Round in the Chamber?

My response was, “Always carry one in the chamber, not having one in does not compute with me.” My reason for saying this is easy, that is how I train. SFC Scarborough responded by stating that he does not feel safe with a round in the chamber, but that is how he trains. Now my thoughts are really trying to make sense of this, but then again, training prepares you for a serious encounter… right?

If you look at regal’s posting history, this is pretty much what he signed up to do, troll.

No, really, you’re not even good at trolling. Work on it.

...who aren’t afraid...

Are you including those who cannot afford a gun, have no access to guns due to draconian restrictions or are entirely prohibited by their governments to own a gun in your "ranks of the majority of the world?"

I don't think you should be speaking for the majority.

My 46 years will tell you there are times you either take a few licks or kill a man. Brains or not. I have taken few hits when legally I could have killed the person. In the end I knew if my foe carried it to far he would die but it was my choice. My brains knew I could take the chance because I was armed. My atracker never knew, Funny I took a few hits from him to save his life.

There are animals out there and your brains won’t win against some peoples brutality.

My CCW pistol is configured with a hammer block safety. I carry Condition 2 - hammer down, round in the chamber. My preferred carry piece is a SA 1911 style 9mm.

No need to carry a firearm.

Do you mean you have no need to carry a firearm or no one has a need to carry a firearm? If it is the latter you are on the wrong forum. DU is down the hall to your left.

Round in the chamber? Always. Carry A SIG Sauer and don’t worry about it.

Very good spot SVT. I never, ever said anything against guns, or against anyone who chooses to carry a gun. I just said that I don’t carry one and never felt the need to carry a gun. Never have, and unless things change as I age, I cannot see when I might.

But for some reason there are those who reacted to my comments who get the positions confused.

It’s almost like the LGBT lobby, that is not satisfied with people who say, “live and let live”. You do as you want and I’ll do as I want. Some of the repsondents to my comments go beyond that, and like the gay lobby, demand that you celebrate their choice. If you don’t think exactly like they think, you are to be targetted.

Conservatism used to be where individualism was lauded, but seemingly there is a vein that demand “group think”.

Yep. I wonder what user name this democrat noobie troll uses over on the DUmp? Regal sure isn’t fooling anyone here on FR, especially with that posting history. Maybe over there the fellow DUmpers award each other some kind of points for trolling Conservative sites?

You just lied in that post, you got on this thread to troll and insult concealed carry, and you signed up 4 months ago to lecture freepers on conservatism?

What are you doing on this thread about whether to carry with a round chambered or not?

Not so sure about that. Seems to be conservative elsewhere in the posting lineage. Just feels protected enough to not worry about what is happening all around us. Probably somewhat wealthy and can afford protection-by-location.

Is it a 1911? Probably ok to have one chambered.

I do. Cocked and locked a 1911 is one of the safest loaded hand guns out there.

I understand. I buck the trend, I do not sign on to you being a troll yet. I don’t agree with you, of course, and strongly advocate for firearms carrying, but you may be one of those who don’t have to worry as much because of your location.

It’s your choice. I feel you choose poorly, but it’s not my life-insurance policy I’m payin’.

This is why I’m always chambered. I struggled for years until I saw a video similar to this one. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=syxrpLbaEuY

If you don’t feel comfortable with one in the chamber you may not need to be carrying. Or need more training. When it goes down you won’t have the time or muscle memory to chamber a round if needed.

I respectfully disagree, and let me explain why. There are many people, particularly newer shooters, that are not comfortable with carrying one-up. Do they have a modern firearm that can safely carry Condition One? Yes. Do they need more training? Yes (and most people do anyway). Does Carrying Condition Three mean that they would require an extra second to chamber a round, and that in some circumstances they may not have that second (or use of both hands) to rack the gun? Yes.

However, and this is where my disagreement with your post comes in, that doesn't mean they should not carry.

By the way that is a statement I have often seen in several gun forums, and a statement that is wrong. Just because some do not carry Condition One does not mean they shouldn't carry, doesn't mean they have a hammer or chunk of metal only fit to be thrown, etc etc. What it means is that they have a gun that will require an extra second to put into battery, and in the vast majority of cases they will have the opportunity to do so. Most self defense cases with firearms are not Trayvon/Zimmerman situations where one gets jumped and pummeled.

In fact in one of those forums someone put an interesting bunch of statistics contrasting armed people who had died simply due to being attacked and NOT having the time to get into Condition One, versus people who had died due to negligent/accidental discharges. One quest on which group had an overwhelming number of people!

Anyway, I carry Condition One in a Glock 19. My choice, but that was after some time of carrying Condition Three until I was comfortable that triggers don't pull themselves. Until I was comfortable, and there are many people who are not comfortable yet doing so, but would still be a huge asset in, say, a mass shooting. It would be wrong for those people to be told to leave their firearms at home because they are not willing to carry one-up.

Anyone who posts stating that it is no big deal that our Military Cadets were FORCED to march and prance around in high heals as some sort of ‘diversity’ thing is no Conservative in my mind Laz.
