That was actually the greatest danger facing Brian Williams as he reported about the Arab Spring protests at Tahrir Square in Cairo, Egypt in February 2011. Williams shortly afterwards told Jon Stewart on the Daily Show (45 second mark of video below) that he made eye contact with the man on the lead horse of a pro-government group on horseback and camels whipping the protesters. Unfortunately for the viability of Brian Williams' fib, the New York Times reported yesterday he was actually reporting in relative safety from a balcony near Tahrir Square.

This is only the latest of reports of how Williams lied or grossly misrepresented things. Why he need to do this is anyone’s guess.
For whatever reason, the long knives are out for him. Maybe he can join forces with Dan Rather and start a lemonade stand or something this summer.
Brian Williams doesn’t hold a political office. Obama does and Clinton wants to. Both of them lie, but the media goes after Williams.

He can’t just report, he has to inject himself into a story in some dramatic fashion.
Brian Williams is a pathological liar, which would make him an ideal person to promote the Demonicrat agenda...oh, wait.

Just pushing the Obama line: the secular leadership in Egypt was evil, the Muslim Brotherhood and other Muslim terrorists were good. All hail the Arab Spring!
And if the Muslim Springers gang-raped one of his fellow women reporters, let’s just ignore it! It didn’t really happen.

OTOH, I remember a story [fictional, allegedly] called "The Game", perhaps, in Omni Magazine, iirc. A bureaucrat and his co-"workers" had a regular pool, the winner was the person that best avoid helping a "citizen" looking for service from that office.
I think the bozos in the LSM have pools on spinning the biggest lie during any particular news cycle.

Nothing small or trivial about most of the lies from Williams and the rest of the LSM suspects.
No matter how corrupt and weasley you think these media elites are, the reality always turns out to be worse than your wildest imagination.

Dan Rather went to Viet Nam as a reporter and actually did get in to some dangerous areas.
Williams sort of went to 5 star hotels.
Why did he do this? Look at him. Appearing on tv shows, comedy shows, etc. He needed to be the center of attention.
No surprise this latest charge is precisely the same one made against Bill O’Reilly, thus implying some manner of false equivalence. Nice try.
