All buffalo shot and killed (Herd loose in Albany NY)
Times Union ^ | 24 April 2014 | Bob Gardinie

All 15 bison that roamed across a section of town for the past several hours were shot and killed by family members who owned the animals Friday.

The center of attention was at a creek off of Willowbrook Avenue as authorities tried to round up the herd that escaped from a farm in Rensselaer County, crossed the Hudson River and bolted across the state Thruway.

One of the hunters — "hired guns" — appeared to have a heated exchange with Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple after the gunfire started and was taken into custody. Apple said he was concerned about possible harm to people in the crowded area from the rifle shots. The man was later released.

which is the only practical way to eat the meat.

LoL, that would be a colossal waste of premium cuts.

Buffalo burger I’ve had held together just fine. I love it, but grinding a whole fresh killed bison would be a shocking waste of tasty.

it's you

I see. So this stuff goes down all the time in Albany.

I mean, if it happened in Buffalo, I might have an easier time with it...

The Navy Comm. in Groton nearly always has Bison burgers and steaks for sale. A very lean and dense meat. Tastes like beef that needs some fat added to it.

I’ve always had steaks and roasts. A friend wants to shoot one this year and said if I will butcher it, he’ll give me half the meat. I’ll learn about burger then.

I've shot many deer...with .270 and .308 rifles. Mostly under 200 yds. Bullets don't go much farther after hitting the chest area of a deer. Most of time...I found the bullet in the deer. IOW's...no exit wound.

What I don't know is...how far away these "shooter's" were from the Buff's...

There is a Wegman’s in Jamestown, out in far western NY... Erie, PA too... I didn’t ever shop at the one nearest to me when I was in Flemington, NJ... trendy overpriced hipster food. Shop Rite is the absolute BOMB in NJ... they really know how to run a grocery store.

No problem... just do what we do with venison that gets ground up.

Yeah, the thought 'Let me go start some coals on the grill' was the first thing that came to mind. Mmmmm. Love bison.
