Bill Nye was heavily skewered online Tuesday evening after revealing his plans for an Earth Day event.
The popular science educator tweeted that he plans to “catch an #EarthDay flight on Air Force One” Wednesday with President Barack Obama.
“We’re going to #ActOnClimate,” he added.

Individuals were quick to criticize Nye for flying on a 747 in an effort to save the Earth and rescue the environment.

I doubt they bumped anyone else so he could ride. So I doubt there was any difference in total fuel used by all involved.

I celebrated earth day by chopping up a bunch of twigs and branches that my wife had stuck into our “yard waste” bin, that were sticking out all over the place like a Christmas tree. She is always sanguine on these matters, but I had to satisfy my anxieties and chop everything down to size.
Nye is a former engineer at Boeing — with only a BS, where he specialized in hydraulics. According to his Bio, he “entered show business” as a comedian until he developed the “Science Guy” character.
Looking to him for “science” is like relying on John Stewart for News.

I believe that point is that instead of criticizing the Hypocrite-In-Chief for flying around in a 747 polluting the atmosphere, Bill Lye, Denyin' Guy, jumped on the Pollutionmobile without a second thought.
Maaybe he thought he could just save some energy by catching a flight on a plane that was making the trip anyway. ;-)
