Senate confirms Loretta Lynch as next U.S. Attorney General
Los Angeles Times ^ | 04/23/2015 | TIMOTHY M. PHELPS

Loretta Lynch, after being kept waiting in the wings by the Senate for five and a half months, was confirmed Thursday as the first African American woman to serve as Attorney General.

Lynch was approved 56-43, one of the narrowest margins in history for an attorney general nominee.

The vote ended an unusually partisan episode in modern Senate confirmation history, in which a largely uncontroversial nominee to one of the top cabinet posts was kept out of office for a lengthy period over issues extraneous to her job.

His position on Lynch has been made quite clear. Casting a symbolic losing vote would be a waste of time.

Well, Cochran had to pay back all those Democrats he recruited to sink McDaniel in the GOP primary in Mississippi.

Miserable old fart.

Yes. If US senators were responsible (as they once were) to the elected legislatures in their respective states, who might possibly care more about a state’s rights than the average citizen does, the US Senate would exhibit a much stronger commitment to the Constitution’s principle of limitation of federal power. The Great Compromise was about more than just arithmetic, it was about having two bodies in the legislative branch that are qualitatively different: one representing the people, and one representing the states.

They all committed treason against the US Constitution with that vote. They swore an oath to defend the US Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic, and then they voted to confirm as head of the “Justice Dept” somebody who flat-out stated that POTUS does not have to obey the Constitution or laws passed by Congress. IOW, she OPENLY STATED that she is an enemy of the US Constitution, and these traitors voted to put her in the top cop position in the nation.

They should all be hanged. Every. last. one. of. them. After very, very public due process, of course.

McConnell Sold out!

McConnell Sold out!

McConnell Sold out!

McConnell Sold out!

Am I clear?

Last year before the election, I told anyone from Kentucky that we desperately needed to let that seat go Democrat. That it was our civic duty to throw that seat to the Democrat.

And this is why.

No one should be surprised . She has said that she would break the law from day one. But that is to be expected. Laws are for little people. Only us slaves have to obey the law. And if we are stupid enough to endure and put up with the humiliations and tyranny they impose upon us, we deserve what we get.

Well, the election is less than two years and I guess that is more important to him than voting for the first black woman to be Attorney General.
or something.

I have always wanted to ask these CongressCritters, currently in office and running for a higher one, how they justify the politicking and speechifying instead of the job for which they are drawing a paycheck.

I blame McConnell and the GOPe

“Lesser evil” types are the real enemy of conservatism and common sense.

Thad Cochran (Miss.),

I said we needed to throw that Mississippi Senate seat away too. We would be better off with a Democrat holding that seat than a traitor.

I’m sorry, apparently I’m confused about something: didn’t Republicans win a huge victory in November - taking control of both houses?

HAHAHA!!!! That's hilarious. The fact is, they DID win, and now they are doing what they want. Anyone still voting GOP is the problem. Lol.

Last election I voted “other” rather than for my GOP rep or senator but voted mostly GOP on the rest of the ticket.

It’s rapidly reaching the point that I’m so disgusted, I won’t even vote GOP at the state level.

Can you think of a better way to show contempt?

Yes - voting against confirmation.

In my opinion, skipping votes shows contempt for no one but one's constituents.
