As governor of Wisconsin, Scott Walker was a supporter of a company that helps wealthy Chinese citizens immigrate to the the United States. This revelation stands in contrast to his recent statement that legal immigration policy should be based on “protecting American workers and American wages.”
Not only did Walker previously support so-called “amnesty” (which some argue would be a magnet drawing more illegals) — but as governor, he “has been a long time friend” of a company based in Beijing and Milwaukee that “helps foreign investors become United States Citizens through the Department of Homeland Security Immigrant Investor (EB-5) program.”
This is the same program that Hillary brother and Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe appear to have gamed.
According to the company’s website, “The partnership provides an investment vehicle that qualifies investors for a Green Card and Citizenship, if so desired. The investment is a $500,000 minimum required program, targeted toward high net worth individuals who understand and appreciate the convenience and timeliness created by participating in a carefully designed program.”
As a “long time friend,” Walker even traveled to Shanghai with the company.
In fairness, most governors support policies like these — because they want wealthy foreigners to invest in their state. In return, these rich foreigners get visas — and perhaps a better shot at citizenship. And, for what it’s worth, the Milwaukee Journal notes that “The Wisconsin Economic Development Corp., under Gov. Scott Walker, has encouraged the Chinese to invest in Wisconsin.”
I have requested a comment from Scott Walker’s Our American Revival, and will update this post if and when that comes.
I’m hoping Walker has experienced the same kind of evolution on the subject of immigration as Obama had on the subject of gay marriage.
The idea of visas for wealthy foreigners comes with strings attached that they must invest in productive assets that produce jobs, money must stay for a certain number of years, etc..... Also, these are usually capped at a few thousand spots per year. Moreover, its all a public process and legal.
Whatever you think of the scheme, its a HUGE difference from simply granting amnesty and full US entitlements to millions of law-breaking illegals who follow no laws whatsoever

So what’s not to like about a wealthy Chinese investor who hopes to make the USA his permanent home and who is properly vetted?
Scott has a problem.
He states his immigration policy has changed.
What do you do if you want to protect the jobs of U. S. Citizens? Don’t you send back the people who are here illegally holding down jobs?
In this video clip his old (2013) policy is aired in a second video clip. He backs illegals staying in the U. S. if they pay a fine.
It is also mentioned that he favored the McCain/Kennedy immigration bill. (You know, amnesty but not an amnesty) He acknowledges that.
Then in this (03/01/2015) clip, Walker is asked if illegals can stay, if they pay a fine. He responds with, I believes a way can be found to do that.
This is the same policy as his old policy.
Then he states that his policy has changed. No Scott, it hasn’t changed. You just got through endorsing the same policy, illegals being allowed to stay in our country if they pay a fine. So you even fibbed about it.
In 2006/07, 2013, and now in 2015, his immigration policy regarding illegal immigrants is the same as that under McCain/Kennedy. Let them pay a fine and stay.

Wowiee-woo, Walker backed visas for folks who actually might bring us more money than we spend on them.
Unlike the dim-bulb-crats, who love to give OUR money to folks who 1) are illegal, 2) will cost way way more than they earn, and 3) will most assuredly vote for the party with the least morals and scruples.

I agree with Gov. Walker on the undocumented. I merely say, he should have left it at that. Politically, I think his posture on LEGAL immigration was wrongful because, imo, he will walk it back.
That’s what Gov. Walker will be asked to explain.
I have had neighbors from China(PRC) and they are the best, conservative and social.
It’s going to be hard for the Republicans to field a presidential candidate as enthusiastic about the H-1B visa as U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas).
Cruz, who announced his presidential bid this morning, once proposed an immediate increase in the base H-1B cap from 65,000 to 325,000. Cruz offered the H-1B increase as an amendment in 2013 to the Senate’s comprehensive immigration bill.
Cruz’s amendment was defeated by the Senate’s Judiciary Committee, which approved an 180,000 H-1B cap increase in the comprehensive immigration bill. The House never acted on this legislation.
Cruz is part of large group of politicians who will not acknowledge the H-1B’s visas use in offshore outsourcing or the reality of U.S. workers who are forced to train their visa-holding replacements. In defending this H-1B increase, Cruz cited a study by the American Enterprise Institute, which argued that visa workers create jobs. This organization primarily represents the views of large companies and asset management firms.
It’s the one issue I don;t agree with Cruz. SO even Cruz is not 100% perfect.
This is a huge issue. Cruz is my man but what is this all about? Maybe someone with more knowledge than me can clarify? And of course it would take more than one bill to make me change my vote.
Governors do what is best for their state, and it is best for Wisconsin to have wealthy immigrants making productive contributions. No foul here.
Besides, the 2016 election is going to be about the economy and Obamacare, as well as foreign policy. The order may change depending on what happens internationally but visas for Chinese worker is waaaaay down the list.
You’re right, Cruz does speak enthusiastically about LEGAL immigration. So did Walker, or it seems by his record. BUT, Cruz didn’t go on Beck and say that we should curb legal immigration.
So, the Walker Campaign had to anticipate the question— “Gov. Walker, should we curb legal immigration, except for legal immigration that benefits Wisconsin?”
All I say here is, politically, he should have stopped at illegal immigration.
